  • Decent price, but I need a decent excuse to buy this. Maybe it's time to find a good deal on an African Safari too…
    Shipping kills the kogan deal though as noted below. Bing lee is still a good deal.

    No deal. Bing Lee is a better deal as stated.

    Binglee = $199 +$5
    Kogan = $189 + $33.99

    Binglee is cheaper and is Australian stock.

      ouch, didn't follow my order to the end (as i don't want the lens myself) and didn't see that crazy delivery price. Good pickup.

      This is still a good deal for those wanting it in silver for the NEX cameras. If you don't care about the colour, then definitely purchase from BingLee.

      • Just edit the deal to Bing Lee instead of Kogan. That's the real deal!

        • Done, how's that?

        • Personally I'd just get rid of Kogan altogether as Bing Lee is the best deal, who cares about the color when you're saving money?

        Actually, Bing Lee advertise the lens as being "Black", but the reality is you could end up with "Silver" because the boxes look almost identical (there is a small indicator)

        I ordered two from Bing Lee (pickup) and received one of each colour.
        A mate also ended up with silver - if colour is important check the box before you leave (there is small indicator on the outside)

        Bing Lee have had this price for both lenses ($199) since last year.

        VideoPro QLD (and some other places) have also been selling for this price at various times over the last 8 months or more…

        $199 is almost a standard price for Aus stock :-)

          I have seen the Sony stores (robina qld, i assume all) have them for $199 as well..

  • Agree with sparky.

  • im a newbie, what sort of shots is this lens for?

    • Basically for taking photos of things that aren't close to you. This small lens wont get a lot of light through when zoomed, so it's not going to be great for fast moving action. But will be good for zooming into objects from a distance.

    • Well it's a budget medium zoom lens. So good for that extra bit of zoom for things like wildlife, but really anything far away you want to zoom in on, but don't want telephoto.

      Depending on your NEX it basically starts at your max zoom of your basic kit lens and zooms quite far. Having this on your camera will need a specific situation like being out in the outdoors because frankly the lowest zoom level is pretty close.

  • Is there 15-200 lens for the NEX? I hate having to switch between the 2 lenses to get the range I want for diff situations.

      15-200mm lenses are not the norm for any cameras, but there is an 18-200mm and another 18-200mm.
      Though, with RRPs of $ 1,099.00 and $ 1,449.00 respectively, you would have to REALLY hate changing lenses ;-)
