I purchased one of these for $6 at thingz for my kid

$7 at my local dollar shop… no bargain here…

    • Are you sure you got the original ones? or just the ripoff version? The rubber in the ripoff version easily cracks and doesnt stay elastic compared to the original one. Just sayin.

Thats rubbish.. All the bands are made in Chinese sweat shops. They are all made as cheaply as possible.. Just sayin..

        • -2

but have you compared the quality of original rainbow loom band and the other brands??? That's the question I have raised,, it's not the matter where they are made because most of our stuff comes from China.

        • Yes.. My niece paid $20 (still cheaper than this deal) at Coles and made me a loom. My son made me a loom also and the only way I can tell them apart is the different color scheme they used.
They both stretch the same. None has cracked.

What proof do you have that the non-rainbow ones bands doesn't stay elastic?

        • -1

well i have tried both original and some other brand,, forgot to take it off during shower and guess what,, the non rainbow brand just lose its elasticity.. that's just based on my own experience.. yeah,,probably they both stretch the same but how long before they lose their elasticity. Have you asked your son how many broke when he was doing a loom using the non rainbow ones?

      • The bands crack?

This is a toy that makes toy jewellery.

If the bands do 'crack', then guess what? Kid gets to make a new band. Everyone is happy coz the kid is quiet for a while longer.

        • Everyone is happy coz the kid is quiet for a while longer.

A $2 bag of loom bands = 30 minutes of serenity in the house… :)

  • Those prices are not the original Choon's Design USA product!

The principle 'danger' of 'counterfeit' products is that you'll struggle to sell your overpriced brand-name product. Producing a lengthy PDF document with all sorts of scaremongering and unsubstantiated claims about competitor's products is a mark of sheer desperation.

Rule 1 for sales: "A good salesman does not need to criticise his competitor's product to sell his own."

    • This PDF is hilarious FUD. "May contain lead". "Report to Homeland Security".

I'm not saying their product is better or worse quality than anyone else's, but we're stretching rubber/silicone bands over pegs. There is no known quality brand in this space until Mattel or someone else creates a bunch of pegs you can stretch bands over.

Carrying on in a whiny voice like this PDF just comes across as a desperate sales attempt.

This may well be a 'bargain' for this brand. But it's not a bargain for a loom band kit.

  • I have three (well the wife and kids do)…
    $7
    $6
$0 (free from GroceryRun.com.au a couple of weeks ago)

(Not original but all functioning very nicely)

  • Check your local Coles Supermarket. We bought the original looms there for $20 and that one came with the updated metal hook and not the plastic hook.

  • How about price in title rather than 40% off … 40% off an inflated price is still likely an inflated price.

  • shipping of $9 kills the deal, unless you can spend $99

  • Categories » Gifts for Girls

But not for boys? Lost 50% of your target market.

  • Outrageously expensive - there are no 'brand names' available where I live and guess what, the looms and bands that are available are all OK and survive and are massively popular. I have also imported some quality ones from the USA at much cheaper than the above deal.
