So this $99 minor service is the same as the one listed on your site for $129?

    • Hi Neil, that's the same as the one listed on the website :) We are doing a $99 deal right now.

      • You should mention that in the title and description. Hint, hint.

        • Thanks for your tip Neil.

  • Website must have been written by an American. Liters instead of litres. Seems to be a good deal for a basic service.

  • if your price is more expensive than the ones listed on groupon, scoopon or alike, you won't get very far with this promo.

    • Personally i wouldnt use a mechanic that sells their business on groupon or scoopon type sites, because the way i see it, if they need the extra business that they would list their business on sites like that then they arent that good or their customer base isnt that good.

Personally if a mechanic does the job properly & charges a reasonable rate, id keep going to the one mechanic, not just go for the one that does it for the cheapest. Cheapest always isnt the best when it comes to servicing. Hence why i purchase all the filters & fluids myself & just pay for labour charge as i know exactly what is going in rather than the cheap crap that almost all mechanics put in just the save costs.

I disagree. I have bought a $49 service from scoopon once before. It was the best service I ever had and the mechanic fixed a squeaky brake problem that 5 other expensive mechanics couldn't fix (and a lot of money previously spent on machining the brakes, new brake pads and other things). The company listed on scoopon because they bought a franchise from a previous owner and wanted to increase there customer base and promote the new ownership… And it worked.

    • So I get a neg for telling the truth.

  • too far away for me but it's much cheaper than Ultratune. Never going back to Ultratune, more expensive than Honda and Nissan themselves.

  • I don't like the sound of "– Replenished all under bonnet fluid levels" How do you know which exact fluid the car takes (or actaully has inside), and will you match it or put in whatever you got? Mazda did that to me, had to call them out to my place to pump the crap out.

    • Anyone who's worked with cars even as a hobby can tell this.

Brake fluid is standardized due to safety reasons. All DOT3, 4, 5.1, fluids MUST be compatible with each other, because brakes failing is a bad thing. No car ive seen take Silicone (dota5).

Power steering usually uses DexronIII ATF fluid, on the rare cars that dont, you'd have to go to a dealer. This is rare. Likely only on expensive euros.

Clutch fluid is Brake fluid, so thats an easy one as above.

Coolant only has a few types, and its not hard for a company to carry those types; with that said, demineralised water is fine to use as a top up, since factory fills are almost always 50% antifreeze 50% Water. In Australia, where we dont freeze, we only need 25% antifreeze to get the raised boiling point benefits. Any more and you're just losing cooling efficiency.

What could they have possibly screwed up with that they had to come and pump it out? Normally you'd just pop the bottom hose, then refill and bleed the system.

  • Sounds like an oil change, and a quick look around for potential up-sells.

All bargain hunters should know that it is probably easier to change your own oil than to drive to the mechanic. It is one of the easiest jobs after topping up the fuel tank.
Unless you have one of those cars where you need to be a contortionist to access the filter. But then, I remember when people did not even fill the petrol tank themselves.

    • DIY is not the same as a bargain though.

I DIY all my car junk, but as long as this store owner is honest and likes seeing customers drive away happy, a 'quick oil change' and look around for loose bolts etc. is a godsend for those who dont own a hoist.
