I'm not usually a huge fan of ALDI specials as most of them are really crap quality (particularly the electrical stuff) but the Skylite bags are definitely an exception. I'd recommend these, and the price is fantastic.

I've bought about four Skylite brand bags from ALDI over the years and they are all very solidly built with strong stitching and thick material. I bought one of these wheelie bags for a relative who ran out of bag space at the last minute and now it's been around the world a couple of times. The zippers are very strong also.

It's worth a look if you're after a sturdy reliable bag. Double-check the quality first though before buying, to make sure the manufacturers haven't cheaped-out since I last bought one.

reckon you can chuck one on a set of scales?

      • I'd also like to know how much one of these weighs. Any chance you can help us out here Greenie?

        • Unfortunately the bags are currently in Thailand! I'll send an email over but not sure if they have access to a set of scales. I'll see what I can do but no promises.

You can always buy one and return it if it's too heavy. ALDI have a 60 day no questions asked return policy.

I have one of these from around 3 years ago. It weighs 2.7KG.
Good bag with good zips. However last trip it has started to tear near a corner, probably from something sharp rubbing on it.

from what I recall these bags weigh around 10kg when 'empty' when you collect in Thailand.

        • Logical, those 10kg empty bags also come with free airport transfers to the Bangkok Hilton

    • any issues with taking it carry on with flights?

      • the size exceeds the carry on limit.

  • They don't look like they'll stand too upright by itself. It'll always keep toppling over when unattended

  • How do we buy from Aldi….?

    • @tc4101 Duffle bags were never designed to stand up on end. Might you be thinking flight cases?
