Posted less than two hours ago, hasn't hit the front page and there is no Cool white(left in stock?).

    • Unfortunately all the cool white just sold out. At these prices they were never going to last long. Sorry you missed out. We only have a few hundred warm white left so anyone in the market for these should be quick.

  • Looks okay but the light housing is very small. Most of the light is going to be wasted as only a portion of it will be directed downwards through the hole. Better to go for a much wider housing.

Hi OP this is a cheap price indeed, so thanks for posting, but what does the somewhat ambiguous claim 'Uses 80% less energy' actually refer to? I.e. 80% less than what? And how do these globes stack up against LED globes re power consumption, heat generation, and bulb life?

    • The 80% less energy claim relates to how CFL's compare to 50W halogen globes as well as incandescent globes which are generally 60W+.

In regards to comparing them with LED, it is a fact that LED globes are better across all the factors you have mentioned. LED downlight kits cost at least 2-3 times more though (for anything sold by legitimate Australian suppliers with all relevant and applicable Australian certifications and approvals).

These CFL kits are being cleared out to make room in our warehouses for more LED stock, and as a result and priced to move. A very cost effective way to reduce your power bill for those not quite able to afford good LED options.

  • So far about one third of my CFL candles have lasted about 10% of the time a standard incandescent has. Now moved to LED which I expect will actually live up to the longevity claims. No dangerous mercury involved either.

ROFL… yeah, like always the optimist.

      No dangerous mercury involved either.

Not that there is any significant amount in a CFL anyway.

      • LED longevity in many applications is proven beyond any doubt. Doesn't mean that poor quality workmanship won't turn up a few bad ones but anything is an improvement over incandescent and CFL.

Not much in one globe you presumably mean. True and pumping one person's effluent into the ocean wouldn't be a problem either.
