      Dear God… why?

These are the worst vacuums money can buy.

It would have been a great vacuum in 1980 when Henry came out, but it's 2013 now and this thing offers absolutely nothing over vacuum technology from 2 decades ago. If you're still clinging onto a non-bagless/non-powerhead vacuum it's really time to move into the 21st century.

Meh I used to use a $500 vacuum cleaner and gave up on all the fang dangle fancy stuff and now use a $40 simple one I bought from Masters on their clearance.

        Oh and its 2014 :p

          It's late too.

      • I have 2 Miele vacuum cleaners and my wife managed to break both of them, the hinges and tubes etc. The motor still going fine though but unusable. I believe Henry will be able to resist her brute force.

      • What would you recommend as an alternative product then? Dyson?

        • -2

Something like the Hoover Prestige 7010PH.

Lots of negs, but no words. Typical consumerist, hive-mind behaviour. By all means buy this piece of sh*t and find out for yourself what it's like to be sorely disappointed after hyping yourself up with plethora of 2nd-hand, glowing praise.

  • I need a new vacuum. It's basically a choice between one of these and a Miele. More likely one of these as it's cheaper at the moment and most people on here give it good reviews, including scotty.

Amar89 and some other dude on his link are the only two I've ever seen give it a bad review.

Anyone else care to chime in on the quality of this vacuum?

Amar89 and some other dude on his link are the only two I've ever seen give it a bad review.

And Apple iPods have 4.5 star ratings on Amazon from a combined 2.5K reviewers. What's your point? It proves nothing more than cognitive dissonance; consumer like to feel empowered, not ripped off, so they collectively stroke each other's egos about their poor choices.

Just because these things have a bizarre cult following doesn't negate my legitimate criticism, after owning one for a year.

If you haven't owned a decent, bagless, power head vacuum then these will seem like King Sh*t to you, because you don't know any better.

    • I was considering buying one two days ago, so I asked a relative living in England what they are like. He said "Best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned, powerful and they last forever".

That they have been selling the same design for several decades now, rather suggests it is well designed. There have been minor changes over the years, like adding a soft bumper rim around the "hat".

There are plenty of comparisons on Youtube, particularly comparing with Dysons, sometimes using the optional "power head" on the Henry. The Henry cleaner with standard head always matches or beats the Dyson, and the optional extra "power head" for Henry was shown to clog easily.

So best to get the standard Henry, without power head, which is what TheHut are selling.

Pink one is cheaper for all you tough men out there :p

  • You could buy 3x 20-30l wet/dry vac's from bunnings/masters for $150. Bought it when a fish tank cracked and have been using it ever since.

My olds have a dyson and so does one of the sister in laws, they are good but not 5/10x as good, not even twice as good. Maybe 10% if that.

Never changed the filter, has a pre filter I clean every other use and we are yet to changed the bag this year.

  • Prices have all just increased by 20%, except for the pink "hetty" vacuum.

I was looking at these two days ago, and all of the Henry vacuums were 99-105 GBP. Now they are all 121-125 GBP. This does still work out a tiny bit cheaper than two days ago, but it isn't a true 20% discount.

    • ozbargained.

      • Yep, the price of Hetty just jumped up by 20% too. They must have realised they forgot to jack one price up.

        • Nah, it is just due to demand and supply.

    All prices Have Dropped Again!!!

But 20% off is finished :(

    • Yep, prices are now very similar to what they were before the "HUT20" sale was on, 103 GBP to 105 GBP. Looks like they jacked the prices up by about 20%, and then did a fake "20% off" sale. The end result of their sale was a discount of about 4%, not the 20% claimed.

  • My 2 Henries have arrived. Very fast shipment, only taken 3 days. Wife loves it and she believed it is lighter and better than the Miele. It is simpler with only 2 suction power. It is similar loudness to the Miele. The dust bag is probably 3x the size of the Miele. The suction wand is definitely lighter and less complicated than the Miele which to my wife is a big plus.
