  • Looks like a good price to me. My free terabytes are dwindling to nearly nothing.

Works out to A$156.06 @ 0.9217 though credit card forex surcharge could bump it up a bit.

    • Sounds like you need a different credit card. Bankwest, Citibank or 28 Degrees maybe?

  • These have a high failure rate, so buyer beware.

    • If it is anything like the older version which looked slightly different, they have 4TB Hitachi drives inside, which are rated as probably the most reliable 4TB drive around.

But I would be interested in hearing from someone who has this specific model whether it is a Hitachi or WD's own Green shit.

  • damn was after a 4tb external..price now $149.99 USD + shipping

  • Is this suitable for smart tvs like the samsung? Anyone tried?

    • same Q for me, anyone please?

      • Yes it is. Work perfectly and never off my sammy
Have 2gb one bought ages ago for $200

        • Louis Litts - thank you!!!

  • Price seams to be 149,99 now..

  • Are there any adapters for thunderbolt for my books?

    • For a single drive, USB 3.0 is good enough.

  • I have an older MyBook that recently gave me grief, backed up, wiped it and a month or so later, my Mac told me it couldn't repair it again and to back up what I can. So I took the drive out of the box only to have it not recognised by my Mac Pro. Connected it back via the MyBook's USB interface and it mounted again. This made me suspect the drive itself is fine, but the problem is with the SATA to USB circuit board.

If it happens again, I wouldn't be able to just crack open the case and connect the drive directly without possibly purchasing another similar MyBook. As such, I'm a bit hesitant to buy these again.
