Got one of these before for my android tv box. Works without any settings, just plug the receiver on and you're ready to go. Some hot keys on the keyboard is supported by android; most are not. Still figuring out if there are any hidden shortcuts.

• Planning to install xbmc on an android but not sure which product to use? What is best any suggestions?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Quad-Core-8GB-Android-4-2-Smart-T…

this looks quite popular? anyone has feedback

• This is what I'm thinking of getting. They look pretty similar. Same chipset, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage.

I have an HDMI Android dongle. Most apps are designed to be used with a touch screen and this will be obvious, even if you connect a keyboard and mouse. It's fine, though.

I think this is the one of cheapest way you can get something connected to your TV that has Plex, XBMC and UPnP.

• For XBMC I'm extremely happy with my Pulse-Eight. Configured for XBMC out of the box and has built in keyboard.

• will DSE or JB HiFi Match or Beat this price? Also, how can I connect this to normal Desktop machine which has few USB ports.

• +4

get your self a USB hub… very, very cheap on ebay. use 1 usb port on your desktop and create 4 or more new ones!

• this is wireless.. so which device is reqd to connect to desktop?

• +1

yes, keyboard is wireless… but it talks to a micro receiver which connects into a USB port. So if you have a spare USB port then you are ready to go. just plug receiver into USB port and keyboard syncs automatically.

• Thanks buddy.. I got it.. it seems there will be another RECEIVER coming along with this keyboard which will go into USB port of TV / Desktop etc.

• •System Requirements: Windows 8, 7, Vista and XP

No Mac :(

• +1

No software for the mac, but presumably plug n play would work fine.

• Works on my sister's Macbook, Blyth the k400 and the k400r

• This is an awesome keyboard…managed to score one for $20 from the nice guys at OW previously:

Will grab another one for my new HTPC I just put together yesterday, just in time for todays Steam update which enables streaming :)

Great keyboard for HTPC. Works flawlessly with my Raspberry Pi XBMC setup

• Got one before with my N36L as HTPC. Overall impression was good except that I cannot disable the "Power button" even if set to "Do Nothing" in Setpoint. Very annoyed that guest and others accidentally press the button and put the HTPC into sleep.

• I've set the power button on mine to launch the calculator and it works fine…have you tried setting it to something besides "do nothing"?

• Just tried. it goes to sleep and when resumed the calculator pops up.

Now I finally know the r in model number K400r means "Retard".

WTH LOL!

What about the other keys there - the music note and padlock - can you reassign those?

Also, I found sometimes I have to exit out of setpoint via the notifications icon (bottom right), and restart it for some settings to take effect.

• Thanks mate you fixed my problem! Restart setpoint works!

• Happy days :)

• +1

Actually it went back as before after a while (not even after a restart).

Couldn't stand it - plied open the keyboard and flip the silicon bouncy bit under the key to disable the key totally.

Now I feel great.

• Haha damn!

• Signed up, got $5 discount voucher, bought. Sweet as. Thanks OP!

• Hi Logical, I signed up too but how do you get the dicount voucher?

Got one of these a while back from MSY ( for ~$40ish) and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made.

The best feature by far is the left click mouse button on the top left of the keyboard, so you can comfortably hold it in both hands and use both your thumbs to control the mouse with ease. So much better than finger based use like you normally would on a laptop.

The F keys are quite intuitive too in that the actual F1-F12 keys require the use of the Fn button, and the primary use of the buttons are media hot keys.

It's a brilliant addition for our HTPC laptop combined with foxtel go and XBMC.

• personally, i would prefer if the F keys has a switch/toggle or setting to change the default behaviour (my wired keyboard has an F-lock switch)…i use F5 more than the media keys when browsing.

and while we're at it, i would also love an updated version with the bluetooth device hot-switch from the K800! that would be great! :)

otherwise, it's a great little keyboard!

Check out the "f key settings" in setpoint.

You can allocate keystrokes or funtions and check a box to "swap the f key funtions" for F1 to F6.

I use F2 to rename files and F5 for browsing all the time, and don't hold down Fn to use these ;)

Thanks kirt didnt even know this could be done! Will install setpoint now.

Great little keyboard. Perfect for HTPC.

• +1

using mine on an ubuntu system…don't think there's a setpoint for linux, unfortunately.

but cheers, if i didn't know you could do that…if i end up buying a second one for my windows laptop, i'll definitely do that! :)

edit: actually, i just googled, and there's similar software called Hidpoint for linux…may have to try it! :)

Wow I didn't even notice that top left mouse click button until now!

• It also has two finger-tap right click (and two finger-swipe side and vertical scroll), which surprisingly works really well!

• Yep good keyboard. Not available at my store.

• Good buy, got the white one for $32 a couple of months ago at OW

• Crack it open and put some insulation tape on the PC. Under the button

What's wrong with the $20 versions of this on ebay?

• +1

I'm gonna steer clear of it as that particular eBay user has been inactive for 7 years.

I think long-term inactive accounts are exactly what hackers would have gone after as there is less chance of the owners noticing that their account has been hijacked.

For peace of mind I'll gladly pay the extra $11.80 and pick it up locally today.

• kamoi's right. The seller nini200092 is no longer a registered user.

I had the keyboard on watch. Quite a scam.

• Would this work with my samsung smart tv I just bought f6400

• +1

I have a Samsung Smart TV and it works plug n play for mine.

• Yep I can also attest to it working with my Samsung smart TV and my PS4 - both plug n play

• Great keyboard, have been using now for about 6 months. The only issue was the receiver wasn't that powerful to begin with so I connected it to an USB extension cable and now it works perfectly fine. May have just been an issue with my laptop though.

• I also experienced that the receiver was not strong enough, I originally used it in the internal USB port of my N40L and experienced jittery track-pad movements. Placing the receiver on the external USB ports works like a charm

• Thanks OP
Probably about 5 left at the Adelaide city X store.

• This keyboard is good but I like the Shintaro from PCCG more. It's $40, has dedicated media keys, a scroll wheel (once you have this on a htpc keyboard you won't know how you lived without it), and left & right mouse buttons for the left hand.
Bad things about it is it looks horrible, can suffer from similar receiver issues and is heavier.

• Just got OW price beat by 5%

• Did OW beat the $31.80 price or the original price without coupon?

• Thanks OP. Picking mine up from Adelaide city store later today.

last year HN sale for $27, so this is not really a very good deal.

• +3

Eh, that was 6+ months ago. Just because something has come cheaper before, doesn't mean this isn't a good deal.

• I'm going through my head trying to justify a second purchase of one of these, also scored it through HN for 22 bucks last years sale. Works amazing on my HTPC.. If you navigate Hard Drives through a HTPC or Smart TV, get this for sure… Also works on the PS3 plug and play

• +1

ahaha me too!

i have one for my server/HTPC connected to my tv, which is the main computer i use. also have my laptop sitting next to me, also connected to the tv…having two K400R's would make it easier to switch between computers, yeah? tell me so? :)

(bluetooth switching like the K800 would be even better! but i need the built in trackpad for couch use!)
