    Annual fee: $199
    Citibank call centre: priceless!

    • Citibank call centre: priceless

I've found their signature card holders line pretty good on the couple of times I have had to call them when setting up the account

Citibank online application process is very slow.

    • I have 3 cards with them and, since the lengthy time and problems to process the first, they make me very nervous. Of the other 2, both were a bit slow, but no real problems. If you have problems and go into one of their few branches, they will not help you over the counter, but refer you to their telephone and public computer station, to ring their call centre. but having said that, I do find their call centre fairly good. Very polite Philippinos who do their best.

They didn't bother to tell me that my application was rejected. They're the worst I've seen.

  • i currently have the 6 months promo bt with free signature this year, can i roll it over to this promo? the cash now sitting on 4.6% ubank so i recon it is still ok to pay 3% fee to citi?

    • Hope your marginal tax rate is pretty low.

      • would 33% (after deductions) good enough? or too high?

      • +1

disregarding the maths for compounding interest etc..

        3% flat fee = 1.5% pa
uBank interest rate = 4.5% pa

that's 3% pa for doing nothing with their money, less whatever tax..

Even better if you have a mortgage as you can just park it there and earn effectively 4.6% tax free (which is what I am currently doing with $20k from my citibank cash)

        • yes thats what im planning to do i will park it on a mortgage offsett soon.
ok let me talk to them if i can roll them over. still have till beginning aug 2014 for my 6 months period free

ups but the link is for platinum not signature.

        • hmm…I forgot the deal was for 2 years.
But you have to pay annual fee of $199, which needs to be taken into account.

    • Highest interest rate in ubank is now 4.37% (Usaver with Ultra)

    • Called Citibank to ask this very question with a similar idea in mind, but was told it is for new Platinum applications only. :(

  • isnt this a better offer? zero dollar for signature card for life.

    http://www.citibank.com.au/familyandfriends/

    • Better if you only need/want, 6 months. Min limit for Signature was $15k.
but some people want more longer 0% terms.

      • more longer

        hmmmm

  • I think slightly different, and whereas one offer may suit one person more, then another offer may suit another person more, depending on an individuals needs/card benefits. That does not make this offer a negative.

    • the link i showed also offer platinum card with the following offer

$0 annual fee for life (annual saving of $199)
0% p.a. for 6 months on balances transferred
1.25 Citibank Rewards points for every dollar spent in Australia, and 3 points per dollar overseas

So i dont see a difference. or is there?

      • They are not identical. Balance transfer period of one. And this may appeal to certain people. Both offers are good, and may appeal to different people.

  • westpac's 14 months 0% interest is much better….
    no bs balance transfer fee..

    • hmm sound good but not sure if westpac able to give me $25k credit limit so i can transfer 95% of it over (the BT amount i have with citi atm).

      • Easy. Apply for two credit card at the same time…
        One westpac.
One Jetstar - Apply for the Jetstar MasterCard, be approved and recieve:
0% p.a. interest on balance transfers for 10 months* from card approval
a $10 annual card fee for the first year~
a bonus $100 Jetstar flight vouche

  • It is disturbing that the banks/cc companies are now adopting the long-standing UK practice of the balance transfer "fee".

There are plenty of other banks/cards not charging fees albeit for a shorter period but its easy to switch between them.

ANZ are one of the few that let me apply all new balance transfer offers to my existing card, which is nice.

not scary. It's effectively saying it will charge you 1.5% per year for next 2 years on your balance transfer which is not too bad.
Besides from what I know, they ran a focus group asking 'which looks more attractive/better' $1.x% p.a. for xx months without balance transfer fee or $0% p.a. for 24 months (with 3% balance transfer fee). You can guess the outcome of the focus group and which one they went for.

Oh if you think ANZ is 'nice', you are really missing out…

      • My point is that 0% beats 3% fee. This is ozbargain in case you didn't notice.
