OPSM Family and Friends Discounts 2014

How much is the discount ???

  • Similar discount to corporate offer posted last month, which I believe is still valid (but different code)

What new parent company? It's the been the same company for a long time and they own the industry

The Luxotica Monopoly. What they don't own, they make under licence.

OPSM is a rip off. For tips on getting Luxottica brands cheap, see my comment https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/137463#comment-1893037

I was quoted $270 for Armani frames + $275 for lenses, $545 total from OPSM.

I went on eBay and bought the same Armani frames for $140 shipped from the United States and arrived within 3 days. I took the frames to a local optometrist and they quoted me $160 for the lenses, $300 total.

So total saved rather than buying from OPSM is $245.

For those who just need lenses only there are cheaper places online where you mail in your frames and they have it fitted for you and mail it back.

    • I bought genuine Ray Ban frames online for $168 (OPSM wanted $390+about $190 for lenses) then took them to the optometrist for single vision lenses, handed over my HCF card and he actually gave me money. I think about $85. OPSM can go jump in the lake.

    • I did the same thing with my Prada frames (buy on eBay for $150ish). Lenses from an independant optometrist cost $250 which was fully covered by GMHBA, so all up $150 out of pocket.

Same package from OPSM would have been around $400-500 out of pocket.
