Autobarn: Gulf Western Oil 15w-40 $13 - Limit 2 Per Person | Nulon Blue Coolant 5lt Concentrate $40

70

I know some people are yawning already because this is a 15w-40. But that's not the point. The key point here is (and I have just found out today) that this oil is SL grade. If you know a bit about oil additives, you know that SL grade carries more zinc and results in less engine wear. Downside is that it is bad for catalytic converters. Info here

In short, this deal is good for motorheads with older engines, rebuilt engines, classic cars. It is getting harder and harder to find SL oil, especially at this grade, 15w-40, and at this price.

Nulon Blue Coolant 5lt Concentrate $39.99

Last time I bought this at Repco for $48 (normal price), SCA about $52 (normal price). So this is a good deal (so far).

I use it on my Honda Jazz, and many modern cars inc. Europeans call for Blue. It's a Type A Glycol, OAT coolant with no borate, no phosphate and no silicate. At first, I almost went to buy Honda OEM coolant, but then I have heard Hanny's garage (Honda guru in Syd) vouch for Nulon coolants.

Also, Green coolant is $29.99.

To be diluted with demineralized water, cheapest I have found is at Coles, $1.59 for 2Lt. Caution, coolant is poisonous, so keep away from children and pets.

Happy motoring!

    • Oh wow.. I am learning a lot just surfing OzB haha

  • pls forgive me for my complete ignorance about oils but whay are "some people are yawning already because this is a 15w-40"

    • most people are looking for 5w-30 oil these days because all modern cars run on 5w or even 0w.. So when a 15w-40 and 20w-50 oil deal is posted, they will go 'not again', 'oh god why me'
