Only support 802.11n? pass
of course with this bargain i don't expect support ac, and it good for whom don't need ac wireless like me
Does anyone know of where I can get the previous gen for cheap or something similar/better that can stream, do audio out, and can be mounted to the powerpoint? My Audioengine A5 speakers has 110V on the back and I want to do this
This version does have audio out, and if you have an Apple duckhead (http://cdn.dutyfreecentral.com/tbcart/pc/catalog/General/TBD…) it'll actually fit into the back of this one too.
It's not quite as neat as the older style ones but it should work.
Duckhead wouldn't be secured on properly though.
Is this an Router or a extender, and what is the main features?
Sorry if i don't know.
Its a router, but it can also do Airplay, connect multiple devices and you can also use PC or Android to stream music, so you are not limited to using a Mac or iPhone. It's ideal for travelling where you a limited to connectivity and can setup a private Wi-Fi network in your hotel room or connect it directly into speakers which is what I am questioning about.
It can do both. It can, however, extend only networks created by other Apple AirPort devices only.
You can extend by using an ethernet cable as well, but its not the same as a dedicated extender.
is this 2nd gen?
What are the advantages it has over other routers with the similar price on the market, such as TP Link WDR4300 http://www.cplonline.com.au/tp-link-tl-wdr4300-n750-wireless…?
If you want advanced features go the TP Link, if you want portability, streaming music and audio output go the Airport Express
I wouldn't buy the Airport Express to use as a primary router. There's cheaper options or for about the same price you can get an AC router which should future proof you a tad more.
The express is a good option if you are travelling and/or want to provide a physical connection to an existing wireless network to a device that doesn't support wireless. I had an original Xbox 360 that had no wireless capabilities so an Airport express was a good means to provide internet connectivity by getting it to connect to the existing wireless network. Then when I went on holiday I could unplug and take it with me. The devices are small which can be useful at times.
Thank you mangolassi and Smigit.
I give it a miss for now. :)
$89 delivered from Apple for a refurb (which is as good as new).
