Dell has deals from time to time but 30% off for the 27" U2713HM has not come up for quite some time now. From what I know, this is one of the best 27" monitors, everyone who bought it loves it. Thinking to get one for myself.

Other deals are also available:

Have fun… or be depressed :-)

PS: the price used to be lower when it was on deal before. But the price has been climbing up, probably thanks to the AUD decreasing, so this is pretty much the best it can be now.

If you call them up, or chat to them via Dell Chat you can easily get 1% off the $580 price :-).

Just say you work for a university or an institution that has Dell computers supplied.

Great monitor, I'm using two (2) of these with a U2711 as the third.

    Good luck!

      You mean lie.

      • You probably don't even need to say you work for an institution.

Just ask if they can bring it any lower, if they say no, just say a friend received 1% off.

I have never heard them say no to the 1% off discount :-p.

    16:10 forever

    • Yeah it's really damn hard to give up that bit of vertical space, isn't it? I've ummed and ahhed long and hard over grabbing one of those QNIX 1440P 120hz monitors, but I just don't want to give up those vertical pixels (which is more or less irrational given the increase in resolution and actual size going to one of those is over my 22", but whatever!)

And the U2413 is $200 too much, I think.

Hurry up G-Sync, 120hz IPS yadda yadda tech.

      • I also agree that 16:10 is great, but then it depends on the resolution we're talking about…
        25601440 > 19201200
        but obviously 25601600 > 25601440 :-)

I'm still rocking an ASUS with 1920*1200 on my missus computer haha.

When you have this much real estate and this many pixels, the drop in vertical resolution doesn't really matter any more, fortunately.

      • I just switched from 2x 2711 to 2x 3011, the increase in vertical resolution is great, plus the pixels are slightly larger, I had noticed I was squinting a bit due to distance from monitors. I have to read maps fairly often so wider and taller is always better. Bought one 3011 monitor from an office team who had switched to several new Dell 4K 32" screens, they advised these have many pitfalls.

  • im using a 2560 x 1440 27" HP Z Display. its amazing - 1080p looks so bad after working on these everyday

  • Everytime this comes up I am more and more tempted…

    • It depends what you do. I have the U2711 (paid something like $670 a few years ago) and it is amazing, but 2*24" is better for me usually. Doing CG, having one monitor for video tutorials or all the floating palettes is invaluable. At the moment though, space is at a premium.

      For this price? Fuggadaboutit.

  • I just checked my receipt, I paid $559 for this model in July 2013 - also in a 30% off sale if I recall, perhaps the RRP has gone up slightly.

Remember to click through from a Cashback website - I think I got 4% back through Quibble - thats about $22.

    • Dell stopped cashbacks via Qwibble (& possibly other cashback sites) on 31 Jan 2014.

      • Dang - didnt know that - thanks will check around to see if anywhere else offers them next time I buy.

Im selling this same monitor for $500 on ebay :)

What did you buy as a replacement?

      • selling it for someone else who no longer needs it

"It wasn't me either, I'm just his mate. He told me to stand here and watch the gate. I've got a wife and three kids you know. They'll tell you I'm straight… At least I think so" - Madness (Shut up)

Selling for a mate always brings out the alarm bells for me!

        • lol paranioa much? guy is moving to canada and i dont want it

        • Marine Biologist?

  • I have this monitor, Its great and the warranty is unbeatable.

Any one can confirm if the HDMI port of this monitor supports 2560*1440 resolution? My friend had issue when he just wanna use the CPU integrated display adapter with a DELL monitor.

    • see the reviews, many complaints:

"The U2713HM's max resolution is 2560x1440. The maximum resolution you can achieve through the monitor's HDMI port is 1920x1080."

    • duel dvi only, hdmi will only go to 1080

    • +2

Dual link DVI and DisplayPort will do full resolution.

    • You can do 1440p over hdmi with this model if you drop the hertz down to 30 or so assuming its the intel integrated display. You could play around and see how high you could get the refresh rate over 1440p hdmi before it stops working, but 40hertz @ 1440p on hdmi might be around the max. So the trade off would be a less smooth experience, tough call.

I'll say that I tried it on my laptop and didn't want to continue, so i got a pc and use the dvi. Getting this monitor your friend will learn the real tech falls behind hdmi. Standard 1.4 hdmi can support 1440p but the interface it connects to also has to, and chance are your friends pc/laptop isn't one of them, as mine wasn't.

My friend got the 4th generation i7, I'm pretty sure his main board supports 1440P on HDMI port.
I am not sure which model his monitor is. I just know it is a DELL 27 inch.
He had to buy a separate display card finally. Pure guy!

Using the same monitor, bought it from a deal here off deal a year back now probably.

This model does have some common issues, like a buzzing sound and bleeding in the corners. I replaced mine about 4 times and they couldn't get me the newest model # of this monitor, and they kept sending me old refurbished replacement models, so I just kept the current one that was replaced as it hasn't buzzed yet and has tolerable bleeding.

My first one also had a dodgy frame that crinkled when you gently squeezed the corners, and the frame/trim wasn't flush with the screen, like it wasn't put together properly. I do sometimes notice stuck/red pixels pop up, but they disappear before I have to fix them.

Apart from that the viewing angles and colours are awesome, the interface/software on the screen is great, and the stand is also fantastic, but for the price and apparent quality of it that dell claims, i feel it lacks a bit on the quality side.

    • Mine is great. I believe there were a few revisions around - the last one seemed to be the perfect one

I wonder how this would compare with a similar spec Kogan for $469+shipping?

    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-27-cinema-display-2560x144…

    • I was wondering the same thing, has anyone used both and can comment on them?

    • I haven't used Kogan Monitors. But can compare Dell, Apple, Samsung and LG.
Apple is far the best but it will cost you an arm and a leg.
Dell on the other hand, in my humble opinion, is better than Samsung and LG. The colors and picture quality is much better.
Last month, I just bought 24" Dell Ultrasharp (deal was posted on ozbargain) and loving it.

  • I am using this at the moment and TOTALLY LOVE IT :)

This is an awesome deal guys, grab it!

  • purchased one last year and have just grabbed a 2nd! stunning display. I'm also a gamer and even though its not really a gaming screen it still performs really well.

  • I just bought one, got the 1% discount just by asking on live chat lol :-)
