I found this deal through youse123's earlier post, but thought it deserved a post of it's own. I've been looking for a solid all-round gaming mouse bargain, and this fits the bill. Free shipping today only!

Review from Tom's Guide:
"The Logitech G500s is nearly perfect. This gaming mouse embraces smart design choices at every avenue, and provides an experience that is neither minimalist nor ornate, but balanced in every sense. The G500s may not be the ideal mouse for every consumer and every genre, but it's pretty close. Unless you're a high-level massively multiplayer online gamer and need a plethora of thumb buttons, you'd be wise to consider the G500s in your search for a gaming mouse."

RRP: $89.95 from EB and Logitech Website

Lol this DSE deal is saving 1c for today only. WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!!

    • That's a good find. I should've looked it up on StaticIce first. This is still a pretty good deal, and I like having the option of taking it back to DSE if I have any issues with it.

  • +1 for this most fantastic of mice!

  • Nice price. I paid $75 for a G700s from Dick Smith a few months ago and i thought that was a good price.

In my opinion its cheaper cousin the optical G400S is superior in every single aspect aside from the lower DPI (not that anyone needs more than 4000 DPI; if professional E-Sports gamers don't use it then chances are you don't need it either).

The G500S has a much flatter arch and the body is slightly narrower, it's far less comfortable and is not suitable for users with large hands who like to palm-grip. It's also got those cheap sandpaper-textured grips that Logitech is so fond of these days, on the sides of the mouse, which is nowhere near as comfortable as the rubberised grips on the G400S.

The third side-button on the G500S is awkwardly positioned and is quite often accidentally pressed, when you use the two others just above it. There's very little tactile feedback in the side buttons, the G400s have a far more definite actuation and click, so there's no wondering whether the button pressed or not.

As with many recent Logitech product updates, which have been subjected to rampant cost-cutting the measures, the G500S feels noticeably cheaper, even compared to the vanilla G500 and especially to the old G5.

I've used both the G500S and G400S extensively and I still haven't found any mouse that I prefer more than the G400S (including the G700, R.A.T. 7, G500S, and Razer DeathAdder; all of which I own). Though the Mionix Naos 7000 looks like it could be a contender, if I ever get around to buying it.

Optical sensors are also preferable for their lack of hardware-based acceleration, that laser sensors are prone to. See here for more info.

I gave it an upvote for the price though.

  • Genuine saving on their regular price as I have been looking at getting one for a month or so.
As mentioned though… I got one from the Logitech shop for $54.00 shipped (2 weeks ago), so it can be had for the same price elsewhere.
