Logitech G9X Gaming Mouse - EB Games In Store Stock Only - $35

1110

Hi - noticed this was at the cheapest ever price, even though it's 2014 and there's a whole bunch of newer tech, there's some who love this mouse + it's EOL so quite difficult to find.

I've checked store stock, seems to be quite a few stores with remaining stock around the country so best of luck to those who are interested.

I've never used one so I can't comment on it. Last time this was popular for COTD @ $40 delivered for MW3 version. Apparently good for claw grippers, I'll have a look at it in store and decide if I want it for work maybe :)

I own and use one of these. They come with different weights so you can adjust the overall mass of the mouse.
It is smooth, precise and one of the best mice I've owned.

I don't use any of the gaming buttons - and just use it for everyday desktop use. But it is quite comfortable and great for long term use.

p.s. it cost me a lot more than $35 several years ago and this is a bargain

  • This mouse is used by several "pro-gamers" especially in Starcraft 2, so this is a good price for a good mouse.

Most professional SC2 gamers (along with hardcore Counter-Strike players) actually use incredibly pedestrian and cheap mice; and the majority are optical, due to the unavoidable acceleration inherent in laser sensors and their jitteriness on mousepads.

Here's a good quote from Fatal1ty (Jonathon Wendel; one of the best pro FPS players) on the advantages of optical sensors: http://fatal1ty.com/fatal1ty-frags-blog-3rd-frag-mouse-sensiā€¦
Another good read countering the popular misconception that lasers, by virtue of being newer, must be better:

Back in the days pro gamers used Microsoft Intellimice — no DPS settings, no special drivers, no macros. It was just a mouse with good ergonomics, and good durability.

One of the best mice ever made, before laser mice became common. It's probably the first mouse that everyone started with (if you were a 90's kid) before moving onto MX518's and DeathAdders.

      • I had one of these as a kid, and one of my friends who uses a gaming mouse laughed when he saw it. I said I use it because it works pretty damn well. Only bought a gaming mouse once it died ;.;

      • Ha, my last mouse was an intellimouse, and my current mouse is an mx510…

The MS is still in a drawer somewhere, just need to fix the usb cable :P

      • Before that it was this mouse - http://www.scan.co.uk/Images/Products/6065-a.jpg

      • I've spent a small fortune on those. The mouse buttons invariably failed within a few months. One started double-clicking every time I clicked it. On another I had to hold the left button down until it finally connected and clicked. I'm amazed people used for them gaming, continually clicking them - because all the ones I had were junk.

        • I had happen with my M950… But after a while, I just changed the micro-switch out..

      • i hated the intellimouse though. i thought it was chunky and cumbersome. So the first mouse i bought was a MX300, and later MX700.

  • Awesome! I'm gonna go check out the store across the road

  • I owned one of these for two years. In the end the mouse wheel completely stopped working. I'm not sure why.

Other than that, it is a good mouse particularly for gaming.. and it is nicely priced.

  • I used one of these for a long time, and in fact when my first one died, I bought a second and used it until the scroll wheel malfunctioned. I've moved onto new mice, but for the price you wont regret it.

    • When the scroll wheel stops working, just take off the extra coverand smack its bum.
happened to me last night, easy fix. something blocks the sensor apparently

  • I've used mine for many years and absolutely love it. I even bought a spare if this one eventually dies. I've never found a more comfortable mouse, and when I did play WoW quite a few years ago, the side buttons were a god send.

I own two G9's (not G9X) and would certainly recommend them. Even as a desktop mouse they are very good, in particular I love the free spinning scroll wheel for web and document browsing.

  • Best mouse on the market imo.

Sold my one a few years back and regretted it ever since. Picked one up nearby thanks OP.

    • +2

No worries, glad you snagged one.

So Friday night is just you and G9X hand-in-hand, rekindled love for V'day? :)

Vagina day is overrated. I'll marry my mouse any day!

  • No stock near Sydney west :-(

  • Just bought one from East Vic Park store in Perth. There's one more left in stock there.
None in Belmont Forum in Perth.

Gee it's hard work getting a positive vote these days, and it's my first ever post too :(
Thanks for the stock update mungbean.

      • Hey blublu, I just joined this site. I positive voted just now, didn't know about it before.

  • i bought the g9x from the COTD last year. Build quality is great. I have small hands and use a claw grip and it fits fine.

My only issue is the lift off distance from the surface. It is VERY high for a gaming mouse. Do a quick google for "g9x lift off distance" and you'll find quite a lot of people who find it quite frustrating.

So i imagine that if you dont lift off the surface much, you'll be fine (i.e. you have a high sensitivity).

I found a 'fix' for it which is to put a piece of black tape to cover half of the sensor on the bottom. It greatly reduces the lift off distances and makes it usable — after that it's fine BUT it does mean that every now and then you'll have to re-adjust the tape back on again.

Personally i would say that's the biggest blemish about the g9x. I'm happy to live with it (with the tape on), but I definitely would have thought twice about it had i known beforehand.

  • This mouse is amazing for me and likely many who want the same benefit.

The way my hand rests on it is amazing (notice how its shaped differently)

ABSOLUTELY HANDS DOWN THE WORST MOUSE EVER!!!

I have the G9, the one before this model, and have been using it for the past 5 years now. Bought this model as a replacement about a year ago because it was on sale at logitechshop. I figured, the G9 would most likely break down in a few months' time (what mouse could last 5 years, especially with me playing FPS games just about 2 hours every night?).

Sure enough, 1 year later, the G9 has yet to break. The G9x is still in its box. WHY WON'T IT BREAK??? WHERE'S THE PLANNED OBSOLESENCE!?!? LET IT DIE ALREADY!!!!!

    • Hahahah gold!

Have you tried to drown it by any chance? :P

    • Bought a new G9X shell off Ebay for my G9 for about $5 when mine started to wear out.

As a result, still just like brand new mouse. Can do the same for yours to increase it's longevity :)

  • Looking for a good mouse? Get this. This has almost no flaws. My only regret is that I bought the MW3 branded one because it was cheap. Looks much nicer without CALL OF DUTY all over it.

    • Agreed. I use some sandpaper to remove the COD logo on mine. Don't want anyone thinking I play those crap games.

Checked my local EB in Lutwyche, they didn't have any and they said the only stores in QLD showing stock are Redbank and Springfield.

Can't get over the fact at how fugly this mouse is… MX518 FTW!

    • +2

Does it matter? Your hand is going to cover it while playing anyways.

  • NSW:
Non left from Sydney CBD to the west (Liverpool) :(

Maybe up near the Hills area (Castle Towers)

Not to be spoil the party, but I had a G9 which died on me 1 month after 2 year warranty. Thought meh ok, i got good use out of it so I bought a G9X from the LTS. This one died Inside warranty, but havent been bothered to claim on warranty yet so bought a completely different mouse. Yes it was a great mouse but longevity wasnt on my side so I changed from logitech to Func. Pretty great mouse so far.

  • NSW Hurstville store out of stock

  • Picked up the last two in Firle, SA.
    Cheers OP.

    • Gah. So that's why the only ones left in Adelaide are in the far north east :(

  • Ashfield store out of stock.

  • Bought the last one at Marrickville EB games last week. Was disassembled (i.e. they had to reassemble the packaging), and there was missing weights. Still a solid, reliable mouse overall

  • None at Macquarie Centre.

  • Picked up 1 from Macarthur Square store tonight. They had 2 left at the time.

  • I have two of these, one at home for gaming, the other at work!

Brilliant mouse for the money! Have tried death adders, g400s and a roccat. These are definitely best! The two thumb macros come in handy!

  • gonna kill me some noobs with this

Bought this mouse back when it was on sale at JB Hi-fi.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/23715

Mine is still going strong after nearly 4 years. Gets used every day, really can not fault it. Would buy again.

  • Sold out at Hurstville EB games. Heaps of people been asking.

I have the regular G9. And love it.

  • Any stock in NSW? I am prepared to travel.

  • Owned one of these for a while til I upgraded, for $35 - it is most definitely worth it. Best in the price range until you spend at least double that!

  • No stock in Canberra at all.

    Thanks OP!!!

I Managed to grab four mice from three different stores..

Now I have a few to give to friends and a spare for myself in case my original G9 breaks..

They are such a good mouse.. I have had my G9 for about 4-5 years and it is the best piece of PC equipment I've owned =)

Just a heads up for anyone calling and asking the store to look up if any others have it in stock.. Don't listen to them.. Call every store around your area yourself, because some of the stores I called said there wasn't any stock anywhere, but I managed to find some by calling 8 different stores..

    Good luck ;)

    • IDK why you got negged. Is it because you bought 4 for friends and family?

I think OzBers need to recalibrate their "broden-meters" and stop baying for blood everytime someone buys >1 of a good deal.

    • don't forget to list it on ebay for some decent profit:D

  • I've never owned a 'gaming' mouse so just out of curiosity, how's this mouse compare to the Logitech Anywhere MX which I'm very happy with?

    • +1

The differences only come into play when you're in a FPS game, for general purpose usage you will probably not notice any significant improvements. After all, your mouse is not constantly on the move, but you will move the mouse a lot more in a Quakelive game.

Ergonomics are mostly what a gaming mouse is about, but they offer increased and adjustable polling rates, on the fly DPI adjustment, and other kinds of re-programmable buttons or acceleration sensitivities that change depending on the program you're using.

      • thanks for answering. Cheers.

  • Ha, great timing as my SS Xai is dying. Could save me from getting a Sensei replacement.

  • Grabbed one - thanks OP. Took a few phone calls to the local store, as the POS system told them they had 2 in stock, but they couldn't find them. Ended up dropping in, on the off chance and they had one last rummage around and found one!

Don't forget to salvage the rather nice magnets from the packaging before recycling… :)

  • No stock in NSW.

  • Just wondering if this deal is still on if anyone knows? EB's site is saying $69.35 now.

    • I think it's over.

      • Should probably mark this as expired hey..
