Is it true octa core or that twin-quadcore deal? Price is alright but you're not going to get warranty for this.
Twin quad core.
FYI: The Kogan model is 4G, the eBay one is not. The eBay one is also in USD, not AUD.
Kogan offers warranty too, albeit their after sale support isn't rated all that highly but its better than none.
Kogan is ok, just slow since you gotta send it back to them etc, but i got the phone replace no real hassle apart from waiting :)
??? Are they still making new phones which are not 4G compatible?
Why? Is there a lot larger production cost to make it 4G?
Its probably for developing countries that don't have big 4g networks yet.
Yeah, a 4G radio would cost more. Also, I'd assume buying Snapdragon SoC's (with integrated 4G) from Qualcomm would cost more than using their own non-4G Exynos SoC's, so there's more cost savings there.
You basically have the choice between 4G or Octa-core at the moment, this may not be for long though.
What respectable branded phone uses Mediatek processors? It's only the cheapo china market that uses them. They are especially popular with clones and knock offs. I don't expect to see Samsung, Sony, HTC, or LG using MTKs.
Their octa core was put to Antutu and the scores came out very disappointing. Performance isn't just based on cores.
What's Performance got to do with Marketing Spin?
I was talking about the possibility of this happening in general.. the link is just an example of someone trying to implement 4G and Octa-core into the same chip..
If I were you, don't buy anything from ebay other than non electrical/electronic goods. It's not worth the hassle when I have to send it back from repair. Adding another $100 shipping cost both ways will end up cost the same as local stock.
Don't forget it's A$730 after conversion. RIP OFF!!
Wont buy anything from Samsung either, dirty marketing tactics (fined in Taiwan for doing dirty stuff, found guilty by court)…
If all you need is to make phone calls then buy one of those cheap $100 DOOGEE phone from China. You save yourself $700 + for something else.
USD 639 + 16.99 Shipping = USD 655.99 = AUD 698.98 + Conversion fees
Then you need to factor in that the mobile only has warranty in the region that it was sourced from, which probably isn't even the United States.
Dont new Samsung phones have region locking on them? I wonder how Kogan is getting around this, or if they are buying the Australian version in bulk for cheap and reselling?
The Kogan $739 one appears to be the 4G version. Their price for the same model is $719 plus shipping.
