Hi first one for me.

Dell is running another deal on their U2414H, similar to the previous deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/140072). Down from $419 to $293. Not as good as the last one but if you missed it the extra $7 hopefully isn't too much to winge about.

So tempted to impulse buy 2 of these even though I have absolutely no need for them.

    • What are your current monitors?

    • lolll my manager replaced his 2 x 20inch with these in the last deal he can barely fit them on his desk… there damn good though.

    • I'm really trying to find a reason to buy these… So tempting

  • I'm guessing its 1920x1080, not 1920x1200. Dell declines to mention the resolution except for "Full HD"

  • +7

Just got one :) First time poster and thank you OzB!

Kudos for signing up to say thanks. Respectable effort unlike most of the seagulls who fly through here.

Thanks, but I will wait for a 16:10 deal to come through. Been wanting to update my monitor at home.

  • I recently purchased 2 of these.

Excellent in every aspect (obviously not the best compared to $1k monitors).

However if you plan to use these in portrait like i do sometimes. Be wary. The way the stand works is a sort of turn and auto lock position, not manually (fine tune) straighten it up, if that makes sense.

It sounds good, but i found both of mine to autolock to a non-level position was off by 2cm which is rather big and noticeable misalignment.

Dell replaced them next day no worries.

  • I have 3 of these screens, and they are awesome for the current asking price.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the PSU is also built-in. Some other think monitors I've come across recently, came with external units.

    • I've had a few Dell Ultrasharps and they have all come with the PSU built in. I'd hate to have one with an external PSU.

    • I have 7 of the monitors

They are great, might get a few more

  • I bought one with the last deal. Just note that it doesn't have built in speakers. Otherwise great monitor.

  • I currently own 2 U2412 monitors, otherwise I would get 2 of these.

    • same love the U2412, just weighing up as to whether my 3rd monitor should be a U2412 or something bigger like a 27'/28' so i can set the 2xU2412 vertically…

  • Im waiting for the 4K monitors to go down. They seem to be around $700 now for 28" still good price for that size but a bit high for me. Why invest in (soon to be) old technology

    • Most of the cheaper 28" 4k screens are TN not IPS, so the display quality won't be so good, although I haven't personally seen one.

Dell occasionally sells the 24" UP2414Q 4k for $899. Its back to $1099 now, though.

      • I was thinking of the samsung one tho dont know if they are ips

  • What kind of input do they have? DVI and HDMI? My video card only does DVI.

This Tech Specs tab must impossible for some people to see

      Connectivity
      2 HDMI(MHL) connectors
      1 Mini DisplayPort
      1 DisplayPort (version 1.2a)
      1 DisplayPort out (MST)
1 Audio Line out (connect your speakers)
4 USB 3.0 ports - Downstream (4 at the back, 1 with battery charging)
      1 USB 3.0 port - Upstream

  • FYI IMO
Just looking at the response time, and it's 8ms. If you're a twitchy FPS gamer, that might not be good enough. If you're a "lazy" gamer or if you're an office worker that should be fine.

    • I find it to be fine for counter strike. no noticeable lag.

    • A bit slow seeing there are lots of 1ms or 2ms now

Good deal, does any one know of a low end video card that has dual DisplayPort, dual HDMI, or one of each? For office use…

    • +1

Most low end models don't have DisplayPort. This was the cheapest I could find, after a cursory look.
Could also look for older generation or second hand higher tier models for a bit cheaper, but that'd require legwork I just can't be bothered committing ;-)

I'm tossing up between this and the Asus mx239h. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&c…

I like the speakers on the Asus but I'll get an extra inch with the dell, any other differences I'm missing?

    • these don't seem to be vesa mountable? so you won't be able to mount them on arms, I hope the stand is the right height for you.

    • The dell has thinner bezel I think, albeit not by too much.

  • I got this monitor during their last deal for $286. Great monitor. In addition to all features it also has usb 3.0 outlets with charge function. Love it.

  • I might just pull the trigger on this one with the ac511 speaker. Are there any coupon codes to further discount this?

    • I'm pretty certain that codes won't compound with the discount, they'll just replace it. I tried it last time with my RACV thing. And it's a really nice monitor, you won't regret it :-)

  • Great deal for such great monitor, buying this for my remote support business, ordered not long ago and they says should arrive on or before 09-05-2014 man thats really quick lets see if it actually arrives before Friday :-)

    thanks again.

  • Got a question for owners: Could this play 1080p movies from a USB stick?

    • +2

Nope. It'd need to have the firmware to be able to handle the file systems of input devices, not to mention all the different file types. The USB port is just for data transfer or charging.

      • Ah, that makes sense. Cheers!

  • So I got the screen on Sunday as they said, screen work great, quality is great for the price. :-)
