  • does anyone have experience with these or anything similar and know what to look for in these?
I like how its machine washable as I don't think I've seen many others that are

Be sure to unplug it before you throw it in the wash.

I bought one of these from Aldi for $29. Looks pretty similar, it came with 9 heat settings, auto cut-out timer, machine washable.

      • any opinions on the aldi electric throw rug?

        • +2

Excellent quality + 60 days satisfaction guarantee + 3 years warranty for $29. It should be on sale sometime this month.

I picked this up yesterday at my local Aldis. Tried it this afternoon - works very well. And a great price too. Its a nice soft blanket/throw as well.

        • sweet, my mate was after one. looked at target few days ago, they had there from 68 to 48 but seems like normal pricing to me.

will get one of these aldi ones

        • do you know if its nation wide? like will they be at any aldi store say tomorrow? I really want one for mothers day :D

I saw them at Top Ryde Aldi last week, that's when I bought mine. Used it last night for the first time. Works great as a throw over, or even just to sit on to keep you warm and avoid the 2000W fan heater costs. For sleeping, it did a good job on top of the doona to keep the bed warm. Takes a while to get warm but the manual says put the heat to max for 30mins to kick start it, then lower as needed.

        • They had plenty today at Aldi in Canberra Civic

    • I have 2 - a sunbeam and a kmart brand one. Both are the same quality-wise and both machine washable. It's good if you don't wanna turn the heater on for just one person or if you like to be very toasty warm. I haven't paid more than $25 each for either of mine. Most I've seen are machine washable (if they are the throw ones not mattress ones)

  • Anyone know how safe these are?

don't get in the bath with it and you should be fine.

    • There are some people who can't use them (eg. chemotherapy patients or anyone who can't feel temperature differences in their extremities). The auto shut off or timer heat settings are useful too to keep you from burning the house down.

    • A friend has one her son calls it a death trap

      • What a load of rubbish… Why exactly?

These things are only dangerous to those who are simply incompetent. They're a great idea and use very little power to run.

  • I have a couple of the Sunbeam ones which are thick, but the elements stop about 300 mm from one end and the control is very finicky (sometimes doesn't switch on). Just got a Prinetti one and it seems better - same sort of thickness, elemnets cover more of it, gets very warm and the control looks to be durable.

These things are fantastic - you can set yourt room heater way down and just heat yourself with this so you're not dozing off because the room is hot.
