Yatango 4G Prepaid - FREE 1st Month (600 Min, 600 SMS, 1GB Data) + FREE SIM Card if Porting Number

125

Yatango have changed their pricing structure as they are now on Optus 4G. This mean faster Mobile Broadband for us. I think that makes them the first third party prepaid service that offers 4G

They have a $99 10GB 4G Data Plan which is most likely with a 12 month expiry period.
Edit: From comments below it appears data packs only have a 30 day expiry.

You can also get your first month free on their 4G prepaid to trial the service.
I did find a way around avoiding the $10 sim fee. They offer a FREE sim if you port a number. So i bought a $2 SIM and saved myself $8. Also if you have a number lying around, you can port that too.

You can also get a FREE sim from Lyca Mobile to use for a port.

Finally, if you are feeling really generous, consider using my referral link from below (or a random one) as we get $40 for each new referral. Also add your referral link after you sign up

Thanks

  • Would like more info on the 10gb 4g expiry.

It would only be worth it if its 12 month expiry

How are people going with Yatango? I remember people were complaining of billing issues before?

i think they are getting better now.

I had a free month with them last year and they were good.

I just got another free month sim to try their 4G service.

Not much info on the 10GB plan yet but it should be on their website on monday

      • Good one EC. Was going to post this a few days back, but saw the $10 SIM charge! $2 SIM is a good idea.

But did you sign up to a new free account under same name as last year?

I have 2 SIMs (myself & friend at same address) from last year's free Yatango deal. I did not recharge but are still active. There was a limit of 3 free per household then.

So not sure I would be eligible for a free account. Any ideas?

I am wanting to port prepaid from Boost to Telstra. Telstra recommends using a $2 SIM to avoid hassles, but porting via Yatango would have extra benefits & it's free. However, I already have old free Yatango account in the same name as porting SIM…

        • Allowed me to sign up for another free SIM under same name. Sending out SIM, then you set up account, so will find out then if can have second account & free SIM under same name & dob, but slightly different address (usual trick of adding a unit number), different email, different id & CC.

      Demarco - see posts below.
10GB, and other packs have a 30 day expiry.

      • Any carriers/resellers that offer 4G data only plans/packs that have 365day expiry?

Best I know about is Amaysim which offer 10GB @$99.90 w/ yearly exp, but only 3G. Next is GlobalGig 1GB/mth @$9x12 = $108 for 12GB/yr, but also 3G only.

        • Yatango is month to month. That was their benefit - 10GB one month, 0 the next. Their price increased by 250% or so. Not a bargain anymore.

    • Any usage outside of the included packs will be charged at PAYG rates. :/
'yesG's section 1.3 data Charges, may further be instructive.

A session of data is measured between the start and end of a transaction between your mobile and internet destination. This includes websites and applications for Smartphones. Handsets operate in different ways, for example one handset may view numerous websites/applications as one session, when another may view each individual website/application as a separate session.

Both uploads & downloads are counted towards data usage. Data is charged per MB (1GB = 1024MB, 1MB = 1024KB).

So, apart from conn / 4G- loss by marginal zones… a undisclosed forced-trmtd sessions or mgt policy…exploits mystery corrupted-model phones- that in turn generate sessions within 'session, for which compound a rate $0.05 x1"MB" xlive threads xhidden policy. Oh. dodgy brothers much.

  • Anyone had experience with these guys?
ie: customer service, hidden costs or benefits, ability to port numbers in cases on disappointment.

their online chat is good! their online usage is good also… pretty much live on usage…and easy to use… but saying this their service has been good on 3G… its 4G thats in question here :)

      • I have poor experience with Amaysim network. should i jump to Yatango….I know both on Optus. But Amaysim to Yatango makes any difference to network?

        • +1

But Amaysim to Yatango makes any difference to network?

          3G -> 4G

        • 4G also increases network coverage and strength? I guess its more about speed of data on network. I might be wrong…

        • +1

Not at all. 4g on Optus is in limited areas.

      • Thanks for the info! +1 to you!

        Very tempted.

Tried to make a basic plan with 100 minutes + 100 SMS and 500mb which ends up as $25
        Is that expensive?

        • depends how ur usage is.

you could take up the free month and see how the network and how your usage is and then work around that. You never know, maybe next month a better deal may come up

        • same here, I found Telechoice $10 plan probably better for light users like us. Plan included $200 talk and SMS, 200Mb data. Their call rate are much higher though but the inclusion of SMS is a better choice.

  • Would be interested to see if anybody else in Perth has used this, particularly out Armadale way. I am on Telstra just for the fact that I only get decent (not great) reception with them.

Might have to take them up on the free month offer to try it out at least, has always bothered me that the big suppliers have never really offered anything to those heavy data users.

  • How to add referral link for this post?

  • +6

No way in the world is this a deal!!! Was $40/month for 10GB, now it's $100/month with 4G. This is the same price as Telstra now!
Having used both for the last 2 weeks it's no guess as to which was a million times faster then the other.

    • Telstra is $95 for 15GB if you're cool with a 12 month plan.

      • +1

As much as Telstra have their problems, on a whole their network is unrivaled.

What next, Great Wall will release a $60k sedan? Come on now.

I got Yatango as hey, for 60% odd less $ I'll accept the inferior quality. For the same price… Wow, they're dreaming.

I've tested it across SE Queensland and Telstra spanks it. I'm embarrassed for Optus really. But again, for $40/month sure. For the same price… don't even worry about speed, when you have no reception it's all pretty irrelevant!

    • +1

Yep - not a deal. The opposite of one.

I was going to start a forum post on the appalling Yatango price changes the day they were announced, but was just too sickened to bother.

I gave been maintaining a Yatango SIM as a backup on PAYG rates in case I ever needed to use it back on a plan. I now intend to let the account die altogether.

      Summary of changes from Ausdroid

The increase in the 5GB monthly pack is even worse than indicated in the table - it was originally $25, I believe, now $59.

      • +1

They'll be broke soon, guarantee it. Their strategy was optimistic, so crazy it just might work. Now though, oh god haha. You can't have such an inferior product & service yet try and charge top dollar like the leading market player.

        • +1

The magnitude of their data and other price increases warrant their demise - regardless of whether people want/need/think they need 4G on Yatango.

If they do die, they clearly plan on doing more damage than just rendering themselves as a no-chance-in-hell option.

Yatango bought Savvytel awhile back - but no new signups there because Yatango bought them with the intent of shutting them down, which they will be doing completely, soon.

OP, in case it hasn't dawned, the 10GB pack has a 30 day expiry.
You may care to update the description.

  • I think that makes them the first third party prepaid service that offers 4G

I thought Vaya offered 4G too?

Virgin do as well? $60 for 12gb from memory

      • +2

I'm with Virgin postpaid cancel anytime you want.

$40 for 12GB on 4G. Beats all these out of the water.

  • -1

Vaya has had 4g for a while now…even in some rural areas

  • it says 'Try us FREE for 30 days' but could you send me the link for the fine details i.e. 600 Min, 600 SMS, 1GB Data?

  • NO Deal

first: It is not really cheap (for $400 mins+1GB data+Unlimited tXt) is extremely expenseive——-$42/M is crazy.

Even vodafone or TPG or Telechoice or Aldi is doing better deal.

Second: If you have to use a Oputs 4G provider(rather than Aldi or telechoice for Telstra fast cover 3G)

I believe Vaya is a little bit cheaper.

Twist your account is a good idea but they not doing a great job for that.

  • plus if you want get min which is 100mins call, 100txt,200mb data they charge $18 for total, you can get Telechoice $15 plan for 12months which give $200call, unlimited txt,200mb data

  • As one to recharges $32 a 17 Gig per 1.5 months, gets infinite txt plus available calls. Such 'New deals don't top it.

    They have a $99 10GB :-).

  • I am very sorry but I have to neg this.

Yatango used to be the most competitive of Optus MVNOs (i.e virtual operators) when it comes to mobile data and especially 4G.

However, this is no longer the case following the price hikes taking effect from today.

Our research suggests that the gong now goes to Vaya. They also run on Optus and also offer 4G speeds.

A 10GB monthly allowance will set you back only $55 which is effectively half the price charged by Yatango.

    http://www.vaya.net.au/?option=Data

Vaya operates on a strictly postpaid basis but all plans are month to month so there is no commitment.

The main 'catch' with them is that once you wanna leave them, you need to port your number out and not simply disconnect it otherwise they will slug you with a $30 'disconnection fee'.

Also, you will have to pay them $20 upfront for the SIM card. This can be avoided by signing up to a 24 month contract but we STRONGLY discourage that! Look at it as a connection/setup fee.

Yatango used to have better pricing but Vaya is now the BEST if you are after data at 4G speeds.

  • Hey guys,

I just realise I have 4 telstra $30 prepaid SIM that expires on 15th May. I used them for my ipad for 3GB for 30 days. Anyone interested?

    Thanks.

    • Take to Telstra shop & swap for new ones.
I bought a stack at $10 each, checked with Telstra about expiry & was told it would be OK to swap.
