For those who miss out on the deal or wish to try an alternative there is photorec and testdisc from CGSecurity (http://www.cgsecurity.org/) … I've used it to successfully recover JPEGs from a corrupted sdcard of a co-worker (which had overseas photos she didn't back up).

I'm sure sure about 4card recoveries supported file systems, but photorec and testdisc supports linux file systems in addition to ntfs/fat systems so it probably is fair to say its more feature packed…

    • Most of these recovery apps are just copies of the above freeware.
They just put a prettier UI on top of it.

    • Recuva is the best program for recovering files in my opinion

The issue seems to be whether Recuva will recover files deleted from a microSD (or other SD) card.

In my (limited) experience, it won't.

I have downloaded 4Card, and will try it tomorrow.

        • In my experience, if the OS can mount the storage device as a logical drive (eg. Assign a drive letter), then these programs can access the card.

The physical format (SD, MicroSD, even Memory Stick) does not matter.

You may encounter problem if photos/files were in your phone, vanilla versions of Android(no longer) and iOS(never did) not allow OS to mount them as logical drives (it comes up as a media device, no drive letter, as opposed to storage device which gets a drive letter) thus these programs can not access them. Where possible, remove card from phone/camera and insert them into card readers.

For in-android device file recovery i used 'disk digger' and it was very good.

Goodness - I recount my experience with a software program, and get negged.

There are some strange people on OzB.

        • Agreed, I believe everyone (except haters) should have their opinion.

    • In regards to Recuva, is the best value the free version or the paid version?

      • the free version worked wonders for me :D

      • if your asking specifically in regards to value, then how can you beat free? :P

  • nice to have just in case thanks op, anyway tried another program to recover images and it worked like a charm for me: http://www.pcinspector.de/ …free

  • wife deleted files on sd card, perfect timing will test it out.

    • you should make your wife do it :D
