Wouldn't touch this with a ten foot pole.

Take this into goodlife, and the "consultant" will tell you that the only way to sign up is with a credit card, direct debit etc all setup. Then to cancel at the 10 day mark you will need to come in for an "exit interview" when they put the hard sell on you again.

    Goodlife can shove it.

    • I had the same experience. They said I could only use the free 30 days if I signed up - then I needed to cancel within the 30 days. I changed my mind the next day, rang up and then they told me that only because I rang within the 7 day cooling off period could I cancel - glad I didn't leave it till the end of the month. Don't trust them now.

  • I checked out Good Life when they had the promotion in January for Vodafone customers. The Martin Place gym is pretty good, the sign up took less than 5 mins and there was no selling, and they have a pool and electronic lockers. The Parramatta one isn't as nice. After the promotion, I only got a call once and they weren't very pushy.

    • Similar experience here with the Vodafone deal. Filled out details and got the card. No CC needed. 2 followup calls in the next month. Mt. Lawley WA gym.

I had a BAD experience with my free 10 day pass!! Can't believe what they did. They pressure you into signing up and giving them your credit card. Its such a hassle to sign up give them all your details and have to cancel. You walk out with a wad of paperwork and feel like they scammed you. The whole process took 1 hour and I never want to experience it again.

  • A "Free" offer shouldn't need a credit card - ever.

  • Yep - agree with other comments.

Hard sell from some backpacker in a polo. And lots of reviews online about how hard it is to exit.

  • Endless amounts of hardsell associated with these 10 day trials, also this does NOT constitute a deal as almost EVERY gym offers it, ALL the time.

  • Same happened with my 5 day free pass. Only get 5 days free once I sign up.

Letter to head office and ACCC had them changing their tune.

ADVISE. Print out the terms and conditions from the web site. There is a PDF and take it too.

If they try bs make sure you send the ACCC a letter.

It's standard practise which is why the managers good cop email was just diss ingenious.
