iPhone 5S 16GB - $724 Delivered (eBay Group Buy Deal) - Nearly 17% off RRP

21

Ok … one more try as the deal is now active.

Good price for the iphone 5s … slowly coming down in price :-)
Free delivery. only 250 units in stock … (all colours)

Cellular and wireless
UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850,900,1800,1900 MHz); LTE

Might be a pricing error as the email I received was $752 and the website shows $724 (around 17% off … not great but not too bad).
Looks like a grey import from HK (possible warranty issues - and no TRS (not sure). (So compare it to Kogan's price of 769$ + shipping).

But I want iOS. Does HTC One come with iOS?

        lol funny. +1

Buy latest Ipod/pad..you get latest iOS…

Hehe … these discussions will never end.

I doubt that a HTC One will work that nice with my Apple infrastructure:

      Apple TV (79$ refurburbished - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116834)
MacBook Pro (used of ebay for around 50% off just 3 months old)
      iMac (15% off- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/98184),
Time Capsule 2Tb (AC model) for $199 refurbished from the Apple store
iPad Air (just purchased for 450$ (TGG Nunawading, Amex & TRS - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141228)

So I think it always depends what you are after. There are advantages in iOS and also lots of disadvantages. I had a Galaxy S3 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82758) for the last 2 years - I just couldn't justify 869$ for a iPhone. Not yet sure if I should spend that much money on phone … when I would go Android again I would buy this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141033

Ah well … I don't really care if it is Android, Windows, IOS, Mac, or whatever … as long as it is a good deal and suits me … :-)

Why would you even invest that much into apple, horrible products.

  • +2

I would wait for the new Iphone 6 that have 4.7 inch.

    • +2

oh sweet. you got any confirmed info on that?

      • -1

        Probably not active yet.

      • Better off saving for the $1000 iWatch
        (as confirmed via Internet)

If the 6 ends up looking like this render I'd totally get one. http://cdn.macrumors.com/article-new/2014/04/iphone-6-side.j…

Whoa… back to the future. If you want a phone that looks like that, just buy an iPhone 3G

        • +1

I can sort of see what you're saying there! The rear casing in that pic is supposed to be metal though. If that's true, would be nice if they made it a bit more durable than the 5, which scratched/lost paint very easily.

The best time to buy an Iphone is during launch, not after 7 months, as most of us here should know that Iphone value don't drop that much over time. If you really wants to buy a last generation Iphone, it is best to buy just before the launch of the next gen, which I guess will be sometimes Sept this year.

    • does the last gen iphone drop price around that time?

      • +1

Normally it does, with brick and mortar retailers clearing stocks. Normally Iphone update is big every 2 years with change in design and size, you would not wants a last gen Iphone if you know what the next one look like.

        • thanks, was planning to get iphone 5s but I'll wait until the next iphone announcement to make up my decision. been using iphone 3gs for 2.5 years.

        • 3GS is iOS7-proof, right?

        • 3Gs capped out at iOS6

        • +1

          Perfect! I'll upgrade my 4 to a 3GS then.

    Overseas model.

Apparently delivered from China (HK SAR).

Buyers are deamed to be the importer. No local Apple warranty support (effectively losing a two year warranty) and no future local 'out-of-warranty' replacements.

If there were any problems with the phone (even if dropped). Buyers would have to ship their phone to the seller in Hong Kong at their expense, by some trackable (and insured) means. Then wait for the seller to take the phone to Apple HK for warranty (or out of warranty) support. Of course any out of warranty replacement would have to be paid by the buyer. Then wait for the phone to be returned to Australia.

Just not enough saving for the risks, I am afraid. Better to buy from Kogan or some other HK supplier that has some sort/type of Australian support.

Yes, this is true, but only for iPhones and iPads. It's possible that they MAY NOT honour warranty.

      http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/iphone-english-…

"IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the Apple Product."

      • Yes, this is true, but only for iPhones and iPads. It's possible that they MAY NOT honour warranty.

        Yes, and no.

Apple Australia will support Wi-Fi only iPads from the China Market. However, not the Wi-Fi and Cellular iPads.

Apple Australia's official policy is not to support warranty on iPhones from the China Market.

    • It's a tough call. Apple is usually great with warranty … I would take the gamble here. But as they do not supply a tax invoice it is not such a good deal.
Ah well … will survive Smith my Galaxy S3 for a while.

There is no gamble, or chance to take, on Apple Australia offering warranty support and/or out of warranty support - they will not do so.

One could take the chance on not having any problems with the phone for two years, and hope not to need the out of warranty support for this period and even longer However, the amount of $ saving is just not large enough to take this chance (as far as I am concerned).

        • That's exactly what I meant … I am usually happy to take the risk that the device does not break down - but that's a personal choice.
I bought lots of devices and so far used a warranty only 1 time in my life (haha … and it was even a Apple product) - maybe just lucky.

The price is the best available at the moment …

I believe there may be better prices via Amazon USA on the USA market models. Also, the China Market 5s is not that much more from KOGAN HK P/L, and they offer a local support office via KOGAN Pty. Ltd.

        • It all depends … Kogan is $799 shipped (with insurance) … so $75 more. I bet the phone will get really cheap when they release the bigger screens.

Might now really get the LG https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141033 (or just wait … )

        • Kogan is $799 shipped (with insurance) … so $75 more.

As this eBay Deals offer does not include insurance, a fairer comparison would be without the extra cost of Kogan HK's insurance option.

Kogan HK price is A$782 delivered. So, $58 more.
