  • pricematch is just a bonus on the way if you purchase the LG G2 from The Good Guys, for a $22.80 of saving, why not?

  • I've updated deal to meet price match posting guidelines

    Thanks

  • +1

im waiting for g3 but at this price, im nonstop asking my self buy or not. :(

    • +4

if you wait for lg g3, by rumour and also mostly be true, the price would be around 800-900 coz of the 2k screen or 600-700 if cheapest, with around $400 for a great phone, I would say yes and give it go ;), I got mine with a bit higher price but never complain about it since, the battery blows my iphone 5s away lol

      • thanks, i ll visit thegoodguys highpoint tomorrow.

        • +1

you're welcome, and welcome to the same boat - LG G2 mates ^_^

  • LG G2 or the S4 i9506??? arghhhh.

    • +5

G2 for sure, not biased but the fact is the CPU is less hot and faster then S4, the battery is much longer and better (very quick charging, try it to believe it ;) ), the Knock knock to unlock as well as the flip cover comes with it are awesome plus the KitKat 4.4 update rolled out by end of Apr to include the KnockCode or something (can;t remember lol) which is very secured and you can totally forget about typing code but knock the code to unlock your phone, Most importantly, the price and etc

    • +1

oh, the screen and its colour can blow the S4 away too lol

    • Another + for the G2

Truly one of the better if not best phones on the market. Specs/Display/Battery still whoop even newly released flagships.
With 4.4 imminent it will breathe a whole new life into the device.

      • +1

The S4 i9506 that Lenneth is referring to has an update to the regular S4 CPU to the 2.3 GHz Krait 400, which is the same as the G2 except clocked just slightly higher (2.3Ghz vs 2.26Ghz).

Other things to keep in mind are the lack of microSD slot and non-removable battery of the G2. The camera on the S4 is also noticeably better despite both being 13MP shooters (LG has never been good at making quality cameras for their phones).

Although yes, as mentioned the G2 screen is (depending on preference) better (and larger at 5.2" vs 5.0") and has a bigger battery. With this deal also it's cheaper than the equivalent local stock of the i9506.

So weigh up which combination you prefer- expandable memory, removable battery and better camera (i9506) vs better(?) screen, bigger battery and cheaper (G2)

        • One of the reasons I got the g2 was because more of the reports/reviews I saw on it said the camera was better than the s4. Not all of them, but a lot thought the g2 had the upper hand. I'm personally not sure if that's the case as the g2 does leave a bit to be desired on the camera front in certain situations. I find the shutter speed a bit too slow to capture moving objects (they can be blurred.) Hopefully there is some improvement on 4.4, but I haven't heard of this making a significant difference. I have taken some great pics with it though, so if I can solve the moving targets issue I will be 100% satisfied with the phone.

        • I thought the G2 was superior because of the OIS in the camera. Any thoughts on that?

  • +1

It doesn't have a Micro SD Slot and the battery isn't removable, in case you didn't know.

  • +1

TGG 120% difference applies only after purchases and I wouldn't risk it unless there is an Allphone store near the TGG store you are buying from otherwise they will come up with some excuses to get away with it.

    • mostly they can do it straightaway without dramas, I normally just show them the prices on my mobile phones and the salesperson is more than happy to do the deal. it also depends who you are dealing though, think you ran into a difficult one :)

      • Not one, four!

  • +1

Great price, how get to $376.20?

    • go to TGG to tell them pricematch Allphones ($499) to get 120% of the difference off which is $22.80, pay it with Amex Credit Card (over $250 at The Good Guys for $50 credit back), go home and claim another $50 on LG Australia website ;)

      • +4

a true ozbargainer will split the bill—-pay by Amex $250 (to get $50) + ing card $99 (to get 5% rebate) + gift cards bought by ing for the rest $$$ (5% rebate)

so you can get final price of $414.89 , ie. an addition $11.31 off!

        • +5

A true ozbargainer will also claim back gst when they leave the country on one of those cheap flights that are advertised daily here.

        • -1

no more than agree with you but not everyone has Amex or ING with 5% or fly out need :)

  • I got the 32GB for $510 at jbs based from previous posts. By no means an experienced bargainer so was surprised how easy it was. Give it a go, great phone.

  • +1

This phone is a hidden gem. Better value for your dollar cannot be found. <3 it!

  • This phone can only be ordered online in TGG (confirmed by calling TGG). Does anyone know: the AMEX offer only apply to in-store purchase (as per the terms)?

    • Yes - it seems like the phone is only available online
And the AMEX offer is only applicable for in-store purchase… bummer

Amex T&C "Spend $250 or more on the saved Card in one or more transactions at The Good Guys in-store before 31 May 2014 to receive one $50 statement credit. Limited to first 5,000 Cards to save the Offer."

      • head into a closest store,I found few in Ballina NSW and Robina QLD not long ago

  • im interested to find out too

  • Update - no QLD store got the 16GB version is stock
Only available in some NSW stores

Bought this from HN the other day for $518 (16gb) and will get the $50 cashback. Not nearly as good as some of the deals going around but very happy with the phone overall, after 3 generations of Samsung phones (S1-S3) this definitely feels like a proper upgrade.

Agree with people on here that this seems to be the best value phone on the market right now.

    • I think Sony Xperia Ultra Z is easily best value in terms of specification although it's definitely too large for some people.

16G LTE is $431 ($438 if you want to avoid a potentially dodgy vendor in Top Buy and use Ebay instead).

But at the screen size it is the LG is pretty hard to beat.

      • +1

The main fault with the Xperia Ultra Z is the camera. Many people care about the quality of the camera's in their phones.

Got the 32gb from JB Hifi a few weeks ago for $510, coming from an iPhone5, I'm very impressed with this phone. Battery life lasts me over 2 days with normal use. $50 LG rebate plus claiming it on TRS was just an icing on the cake for me.

A lot of comments about non-replaceable battery, how many people do you know actually carry a spare battery with them? The quick charge adapter that comes with the unit is great and as mentioned above, 3000 mah you'd be pushing it really hard to use all that up in a day.

No SD card slot - I use a cheap OTG cable with my 64gb compact USB stick.

I got use to the knock on to turn the display on and off I find myself doing it on my iPad as we'll.

Last but not the least… That SCREEN!!! Gorgeous.

    • +1

My problem isn't with carrying batteries (I think a powerbank is much more convenient albeit more expensive) it's the fact that batteries fail.

In fact of all the phone's I've owned the only thing that has failed is the battery in fact.

However great price for the phone which I read a lot of good things about.

Oh and I can't live without an SD slot - that kills it for me. Again because of the inconvenience of carrying an additional item.

      • What phones were they? As for battery failing, were they genuine batteries? It is very common for low end Android phones to have replaceable batteries. Due to they are being low end, they often come with fairly average batteries.

I found non-genuine batteries seem good at first. However, they don't last as long as the original. Those non-genuine batteries have low lifespan. Also, dodgy chargers are not good for your batteries either.

Anyway, if you had flagship phones and your usage pattern ended up needing a new battery on a regular basis (every 6-9 months) then most definitely you need a flagship phone with replaceable battery. For me, it is generally the phone starting to fall apart (or getting sluggish) before the battery goes.

Unless you have really high smartphone usage, generally, the battery should last 2 years. Then, it is time to get a new phone.

  • Hi all, first post.. I have the Virgin Red Velocity AMEX Credit card, does it qualify for the $50 statement credit? or only AMEX cards issued direct by AMEX?

As I would like to buy the phone, time to upgrade from my Galaxy S…

    Thanks!

Just remember that David Jones are pretty much Dick Smith. Just had on hold a white 32gb Lg G2 at parramatta david jones for $498 (Includes the $50 off from their instore price). My partner decided he wanted black, so i rang around and got Jb Hi Fi to price match. I have now called up David Jones Parramatta to put the phone back on the shelf. Hopefully someone is following this forum and wants a cheap LG G2!

    • Thanks! Could you post or send me a receipt to me please?

    • +3

      Grey import

Site has a looooooong thread of user complants on Whirlpool and is banned from here (for sock puppet accounts as I understand it) so I guess take your chances. I'd rather pay a little extra for peace of mind myself.

    • +1

Stay away from topbuy.com.au, very bad experiences by many.

  • ohhh okay thanks !

  • Is the TGG deal with AMEX applicable to online purchase?
because the LG G2 16GB is only available online with TGG not in store.

  • For those interested in how this compares to the Nexus 5:

    http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5543&idPhone2=…

  • Hopefully the n5 drops to sub $300 soon. I can't see why it won't with the rate the g2 is dropping in price.

  • Is it possible to buy the phone from TGG online and then claim back the difference after?

    • +1

Yeah they have both online and in store 30 days refund 120% difference guarantee if you are lucky they don't make up excuses to avoid this.

  • No stock at any of the NSW stores near me =(
Rung two up and they claimed to only have 2 or 3 in stock, which sold out today. OzBargained.

  • +1

So, here is my LGG2 (got it about 5 months ago):
    Battery: 57%
Usage on battery: 76hours 38 minutes (3 days already)
Expected time to use: +128 Hours (another 5 days on normal use)

    • That's amazing. My 6 month old Galaxy S3 4G lasts 9-10 hours with 3 hours of screen-on time.

    • That is the battery life of those days we used green colour screen with LI-ion battery.

      • -1

        Good old times …

  • Does anyone know if TGG will let me split a $500 purchase over two Amexes to get $100 off?

Thinking of getting the 32GB with no price match.
    16GB just isn't enough as I'll be coming from a 64GB iPhone 5

    • They can sure do. Just like you split it into a few gift cards payment.

  • So since it's not available in stores.. It's safe to buy online then price match it in store afterwards ? Anyone else doing the same ?

  • For those of us without an Amex or TGG near us - what's the best price people have been getting for this?

  • I went to the rockdale store in NSW and they said only the Casula store has stock in NSW of the 16gb (in both colours).
They ordered one in for me but refused to price BEAT. They offered to price MATCH only. Given it was only a few bucks difference I accepted that offer.

    • Can you submit an online request for price beat? That is against their advertised policy and not fair play!

  • Just bought the 32gb version from JB for $519. Couldnt get them down to $510 unfortunately. One store went to 520 and the next store to 519. Had about $200 worth of JB vouchers so didnt bother bargaining with other stores.

    • Was that the invoiced price or the price+cash back?

      • Invoiced price. Have you been in and just tried to ask them for a price?

        • Hi Snoopy113
Can you please upload your invoice (or PM me the invoice)?
I will try my luck price matching at TGG
          Thanks heaps

    • Can you please upload the invoice or PM me the invoice please?

  • Does any body know Kogan is or isn't eligible for $50 cash back from LG?

    • No - Kogan sells grey import

  • I tried two JB Hi Fis in Melbourne CBD today and they wouldn't go below $550 for the 32GB.

    • Exactly the same for me today in Brisbane City store. Wouldn't budge off $550. I'll go for the 16GB from allphones then.

  • Couldn't understand why you guys not trying to buy from Kogan as their price is less than the price of JB Hi Fi, LG G2 32G Black is $449, this is $100 less than the price of the cheapest one even with cash back.

    • +1

Are you sure the one from Kogan isnt a grey import and qualifies for cash back?

      • Kogan price is LG G2 32G Black $449, and this is the price without cash bask as they are grey impot. just add P+H to the above price.

        • +2

Because shipping is around $23. If you can get local stock for $510 ($460 after cash back) or Kogan's grey stock for $473 including P&H. I think you can work out why we are all trying to get it for less than $550 from JB. Most ppl here are happy to pay a small price premium for local stock also.

  • can someone who did order on tgg's website using amex confirm the rebate of amex didnt apply here?

    • anyway 16gb sold out everywhere including online.

  • +3

Bought 32GB today at JB Camberwell for $510. Last one.

      • I picked up the last black one at JB Homesglen for $510, but i believe they still have white ones in stock.

  • +1

In Melb, South Wharf had 1 x 32GB white that they were going to do for $510, but I wanted black.

  • got it 545 32gb at good guys frankston

  • +1

Well it took a trip to 4 different JB's but finally got it for $510. 3 were in walking distance of each other. I think it is luck of the draw with who the salesperson is.

  • Soooo, cant get the cashback page to load anymore. Cant find the promotion. Sent them a support email. Will be interesting to see if they have pulled the cashback deal.

    • I don't think they have pulled it. I have tried a few different browsers and it is throwing up a Facebook related error message. When you go to the LG Promotions page and click on the link for the cashback, you are asked to 'like' their FB page. You then get another FB page for the cashback which is linked to the current page that won't load. I've sent my support email too.

    • Just tried the cash back page again and it is working on Firefox when launched from FB.

  • gah! i had ordered the LG G2 16gb version in-store from the Rockdale Good Guys and they took my money a week ago. Today i call up and they tell me they're unable to fulfill my order, despite telling me the phone would be ready yesterday or today for pickup.

  • Just bought a 32 gig G2 from JB for 506, so 456 with cash back, pretty good!

Will upload the receipt if anyone wants it

  • Got last one from JB world square for $510 with the bonus case.

Westfield Sydney has one ex return left for $505, strand arcade store have two black left
