I know there are a few threads about CC and points but I couldn't find any (man look) related to my situation
Anyway we have just sold our house and we will have some surplus funds to reno the new place
We are looking at spending 30K on various things (floorboards, ducted air con, painting etc)
What would be a good card to put all this on, one at a time so maybe 10-15K limit, to collect points
We would pay it off straight away to avoid any interest payable
Never had a CC before but I would guess 30K would be a lot of FF points (SYD-LAX return???)
Anyway any suggestions would be helpful
for a citibank signature card, youd get about 45000 points. that's enough for about a $500? gift card (or thereabouts).
you should look at any recent credit card deals which give a bonus X points on signup (e.g. 40,000 points), but be wary of any annual fees included. Commbank is usually pretty good value if you need to pay for a credit card. i would avoid Amex only as some retailers don't accept amex.
i recall a westpac earth deal recently and the citibank signature. do a search via ozbargain.
you are also able to hold onto your money and pay off the closing balance by teh due date, giving youa pprox 30-45 days of interest free money
