Hi, I was searching for a lightweight laptop with a powerful processor (atleast Core i5) and found Lenovo is offering some good deals under the "Clearance section" on both Core i5 & Core i7 models.

  • Win 8, Core i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200 RPM HDD ——- $616 delivered
  • Win 8, Core i7 with discrete (2GB) graphics card, Touch screen, 4GB RAM, 1 TB HDD —— $899 delivered

These particular models are nowhere mentioned in their Easter Deals section ….

    no fhd option

    • Not on the 431 and a lot of other models, nope. Looked into buying a Lenovo myself but ended up buying something else.

  • but you can get E440 with new 4generation i5 for $629.1

Lenovo deal not from Scotty? I guess it's not a real bargain.

Cant trust lenovo since the last deal I tried to get went so pear shaped :X be warned!

Not a great deal, because its a pretty average consumer grade notebook, there is nothing special about the price or features.
i.e: Has last year’s 3rd gen standard voltage CPU (not so great on battery life), weighs 2.14kg (pretty average for a non-ultrabook), consumer level Edge series (so you are not getting the premium build quality which the Thinkpad series is usually known for), and has a mediocre display (average resolution / non touch / TN panel).

P.S: The 14" Toshiba I bought back in late 2012 had similar specs (slightly slower i5 3rd gen CPU but a better GPU) was almost $100 less!

I wonder what happened to laptop prices. I've noticed that the costs of laptops have actually gone up the past couple of years or just haven't moved at all

      • Very much true especially for Australia, whereas prices for Laptops are decreasing everywhere else. Just saw this deal on US Microsoft store website, A FHD, Core i7 laptop for $599

Wondering when will Aussies get that kind of deals…. ?

        • Our weak dollar is to blame. Plus general increase in computer parts especially DRAM memory and price of copper and labour costs.

  • False advertising - this is a 2.6 GHZ CPU, with turbo up to 3.2 GHz. It does not run at 3.2 GHz all the time.

Calmerancer comment (above) is correct. People here have long and unhappy memories of Lenovo since many hundreds of us were screwed around by them last year.
It'll be some time and it would have to be one heck of a bargain before it'll appeal to the wider OzB community

  • Grab x230t. It's $999 with i5 3rd gen, 8GB RAM and 128SSD. It's still there but you have to find it manually. Put x230t in search box

    • very tempting for the price… i would really like to demo the product prior to purchasing. what are my chances of finding the x230t instore still on display? feel the 12.5 inch screen could be too small for my liking.
