Hi Guys,
Facebook has just shown me a fairly cool link to a reduced priced AMD 290.
Limit 1 per customer, while stocks last.
Cheapest on staticice was $499 from PCL:

I know its not the best after market cooler, but imo anything other than stock for the 290 series couldn't be worse.
I myself have 2 of the tri-x OC 290's :), they run abt 30-38 degrees on idle and 70 degrees at full load.
that's pretty good. i am getting 80 on full load for my 290 cf'ed. though i tested the full load on mining. so might be a different beast there. either that or my cooling is crap.
idle is barely 30 i think, didn't check. maybe it's because i'm using the onboard i4000 when testing.. :)
this one runs pretty hot according to the reviews.
Depends on the model; see my post here.
Thanks to PCCGs lack of information I can't tell which model this is.

Yep, that's what happens with almost any multi-GPU setup unless you have an E-ATX/Workstation/Server mobo with extra spacing between the PCI-E sockets.
This is probably the best after market cooler for a 290.

You mean non reference cooler. The cooler is not available seperately
Yeah, your absolutely correct, i was working at the time and didn't have much focus on my reply. I definitely meant non-reference cooler. Thanks for clarifying for me.
It's the same price at shopping express at the moment, possibly with cheaper shipping too
Not an amazing deal unless you live in VIC and can pick it up.
PCCGs stupendous shipping costs and surcharges jack the price up to the competitor's average.
StarTrack shipping is only $15 for most of the country, not sure about rural areas.
Anyone in Brisbane can pick this up from Computer Alliance for the same price, comes with a free copy of BF4.
Dammit, I just bought it from ShoppingExpress for same price. The one at Computer Alliance is better - it's the OC version:

Would not recommend that one from CA. Another user above posted a link to another user specifying some problems with that specific r9 290 model: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/140377#comment-1935856
This is a real good price. I have been watching both 290 and 290x on ebay for months.
Most 290s never go below $450 especially with non reference coolers. This is 2nd hand too. I wanted a 290 with a non reference cooler but ended up picking up 3 cards at an average of 350. That price is even more unheard of
Just thought I'd post my experiences with this card - There is a deal on with MSY for $465 for the same card. I purchased it, ran some benchmarks, played some games and was less than impressed. Don't get me wrong, the performance of the card is good, but the noise from this card (imo) was terrible. I went back to MSY and exchanged/paid the difference for the same version of the GTX780 and found it to have about the same performance, but a lot less noise (presumably due to less heat). Of course, noise can be quite a subjective thing, and depends on a lot of other variables (environment, speakers/headphones, etc.)
TL;DR - Card seemed noisy. If you don't care about noise (or use headphones) then this card is an excellent deal!
was looking at this previously before i got the asus ones.. this one runs pretty hot according to the reviews.
