Now that winter is coming, prepare yourself with an 800 Lumen, USB rechargable front bike light.
Sure that this is pricey compared to what can be found on Dx, however there are advantages of a light with an integrated battery pack, and a properly designed beam pattern.

The light reviews well on Wiggle, 4.2 stars from 12 reviews

Cyclingexpress can beat the price by 5%. I just bought the Lezyne SuperDrive XL fully loaded recently from them, only 120+. 3 business day delivered. But i am not sure they have this Deca drive or not

In my day we didnt need lights

Bloody Galileo, before him, the sun revolved around the earth & did as it was told.

      • Wippersnapper in my day we paid money to make our bikes lighter not add superfluous weight

        • +1

Yea all that added softy equipment like helmets , bells , reflectors and lights .
Seriously makes me laugh at the get ups going around that are rediculously priced advertising boards that are totally TDF ready .
I just got back from my first century ride so I'm walking tall:P

  • $116 for a light?

It'd be cheaper to strap on maglite & buy rechargeable batteries. And buy a bottle of single malt with the savings.

      I've seen this.

Yes it's cheaper but IMO it's not smart and a little bit dangerous. These lights, and in particular the mounts, take a hammering. You don't want any parts off your homebrew lights falling into your front wheel. Haven't seen it, but i've heard at least one horror story.

There is plenty of info on the web regarding how to do this if you really want to.

    • You must already be drunk.

Also available here locally for $119.95 + free delivery

This would be my pick as it makes any returns/claims slightly easier, australian consumer law etc etc. And you avoid any currency conversion charges that may apply

    thanks to this deal

    • Good-ish find though and might be useful for someone with a wiggle order anyway. Welcome to OzB!

    • If I knew about this site, I would have bought from here too!
They also have a bike repair stand on clearance for $21.95

      • That repair stand certainly is a great bargain. Just be careful it is what you want. I had one but switched to a seat clamp repair stand.

Having the bike mounted like that along the downtube can be irritating. You also have the issue of the mounting screw rubbing against some frames with wider tubes. You'll be able to find various detailed reviews online.

For $21 you may as well try it out, sell it on if you don't like it.

This will go well with my bike I found in the council clean up.

  • $116 for a bike light!!!!

    that is f%&king ridiculous.

    • +2

Clearly you don't ride at night on the road or on trails.

    • +2

$116 could save your life on the road

      • +1

So could a $35 XM-L kit from DX. Similar lumens.

        Thats an awfully big premium.
My DX lights are still going well.

But my commute is along mostly lit roads, so a 1x18650 torch with handlebar mount does fine too. (Way better than the expensive 12V Cat-Eye lamps of not long ago.)

What are the emitters in these? Funny they don't want to say.

        • Yeah, but now we're just splitting hairs. These things are bulletproof. Machined materials. Very high quality. If you don't like nice things, don't buy em ;)

    • It's OK, you don't have to buy it. Move along.

I'm sorry but the site doesn't clarify the battery it operates on, the type of LED used (Cree / Luminus / Nichia ) yet it claims to be at 800 lumens. i find it a bit too true to be true.

    My fellow flashaholics, if you're looking for a bike light, please consider;

    Fenix BT20
    http://www.fenixlight.com/ProductMore.aspx?id=16&tid=14&cid=…

    Niteye B20
    http://www.niteyelight.com/product/?type=detail&id=93

both very reputable Chinese brands, don't believe me? Do a google search.

and yes, you can get cheap Chinese bike lights or just do what I do, but a light, a mount and have the option of taking it off and carrying it with you! :)

    • Word brother! I'm rocking a Fenix TK12 on my fixie and a Sunwayman M10A on my MTB - both have been flawless for years, even after numerous drops from the bike onto bitumen. Which makes for a nice segway to my next question - which mount do you use/recommend??? :)

      PS. The BT20 looks awesome.

Couldn't find the Niteye BT20 on mtbr.com but I was able to find the Fenix B20.

Here's a review for the Lezyne Deca, and here's one for the Fenix B20.
