$25 SteelSeries Ikari Laser Mouse at JB-HIFI

480

The SteelSeries Ikari Laser Mouse, usually sold at $150, can be found at JB-HIFI for just $25.00! That's over 80% off!

This mouse is one of the best gaming mouses and the gaming clan MYM all use this type of mouse.

I initially heard about this mouse selling for $50 at JB-HIFI, so I went today to the Maribyrnong store (the one across HighPoint) and asked them if they have any in stock. They had 2 in stock and said it was actually $25 (an image of my proof of purchase can be found by clicking the URL).

I bought one and when I came home and started using it, I can definetely say this is the best mouse I have ever used. It is ultra smooth and fits perfectly for my hand. While gaming, I can already feel myself getting better. I have tried the Logitech MX518, Microsoft Sidewinder X5 and Logitech MX900 and I can honestly say the Ikari is better.

So go now and get this awesome mouse for a crazy price.

Last I checked in Melbourne, Maribyrnong has 1, Preston has 1, Werribee has 2, Geelong has 2, etc.

EDIT: The optical mouse is $15. That's a huge bargain as well.

    Thats what she said.

    • +2

Haha i was going to say that until i saw your comment. :S
Nice find but my G9 kicks ass on all levels.

  • +1

Is it better than a Logitech G5 (this is what I currently use)?

    • +2

It really depends on personal taste. I suggest you look at reviews for it and just check before you buy it.

    Thx for the post,

just got one in preston, another one left is SteelSeries Ikari Optical for $30.

    • +1

Optical doesn't compare to Laser though is using for gaming purposes.

    mym is dead ;)

This looks good.. anyone know if it's available in NSW too?

  • +1

Might be avaliable in NSW. Just check it with them. Because the database at Melbourne shows $25.

    • +1

hey mate, how do you access the datebase of jbhifi, is it open to public?

  • I couldn't find this product on the JB Hi-Fi web site, here's the product's web page.
I note that it's a corded mouse,,, so that isn't a problem for gamers then?

    • +1

I thought gamers like corded ones as their latency is lower so they get a faster response, and they can also have a much higher USB polling rate (instead of 125hz they go up to 1khz (well that's what I read in a magazine)). In regards to my comment I could be completely wrong also.

      • +1

I was wondering if it was an issue with w'less technology and inherent data rate limitations…
The product spec's back-up exactly what you've stated ZeroDude - Polling: 1000 Hz

I thought that Ascii pic was a toilet until I read ur username…

BTW - Nice find on the mouse!

    • The biggest problem for gamers and wireless mice are batteries. There's nothing worse than having your mouse die in the middle of some serious fragging. Happens too often for it to be funny. My wireless batteries need replacing at least once a week, and just before they die the battery status is "High".. great.

Only reason I still use wireless is because I picked up the uber cheap Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000 that was posted on OzBargain a while ago :)

      • "I picked up the uber cheap Microsoft Wireless Desktop 6000 that was posted on OzBargain a while ago"
I also picked up a MS W'less Desktop 6000 (v1) about a year ago when the 30% cash-back was on and more recently a MS W'less Laser Mouse 6000 v2 for a steal. I've been very happy with them, but then I'm NO gamer…

  • Great deal! $25 for a mouse of this standard is a very good bargain indeed. I have a g9 myself and I love it. I don't know how this performs, but at $25, who cares?

  • Might get one just to try out…

  • I didn't access the databases publically. I had to go to JB-HIFI myself and ask them to look it up for me.

Picked up the last one at Camberwell this morning.

Narre Warren had 11 in stock and they should be able to order one in to your local store if you need one.

    • hi dancube
was it $25 or $50 as stated in whirlpool forum?

      • Marked as $50, paid $25.. it's $25 on the computer

    • Damn you buddy, was going to head down this morning too lol. The guy is ordering in from Narre Warren for me, already paid. Should be arriving next few days. $25.48 paying by Amex.

    • I just got the last laser mouse from narre warren this arvo. There are still maybe 6-8 optical mice for $15 if anyones interested =]

  • 25… man who cares, I might just get one regardless or to use as a spare.

  • +1

Nope none at Robina I got the last one an hour ago, cheers OP

  • did anybody find any in Sydney?

    • Well since some people got it in QLD as well, then should be available in Sydney and even the rest of Australia xD

    • I checked 2 stores in CBD but there were none.

      • +1

CBD's usually run out of stock really quick.

Try areas away from the city.

  • Anyone seen any in Perth?, if there is i would rush there right away.

    • +1

I bought one at Melville today, I rang before and put it on hold. I couldn't see any others on the shelves. Nice mouse. Thanks to the OP for the heads up!

  • +1

For those in the ACT, Woden should have 3 left. Civic, Belco and Fyshwick have none.

  • +1

Liverpool NSW did not have any

  • +1

Will check Erina and Tuggerah NSW tomorrow and let you all know.

  • +1

In NSW, the only stores where they had stock were Waringah Mall, Rouse Hill and Miranda but all only had one each if I remember correctly. I myself managed to only get one, and I'm yet to receive it because I'm getting one transferred from another store to my closest one.

    • So you checked every store in NSW? Or did you ask JB for which stores had stock?

      • I asked which stores had stock lol

        • I tried the same thing in Brisbane with no luck :(

  • Is there any left in Perth/WA?

  • +1

None in Macquarie Centre Store, Sydney

  • +1

Thanks for this. Picked one up in the Cannington(WA) store. Was quoted $25 over the phone but I ended up paying $15 as that's what the price tag was!

    • +1

You may have picked up the optical ($15) instead of laser ($25).

  • +1

    Edited first post

Added the fact that the optical is also $15 now.

BTW I've checked in Melbourne that there are still some in stock in Werribee and Geelong. So either tell your store to order them from there or go there yourself.

    Though you'll need to hurry.

thanks guys, picked up one at TTP in adelaide. City store was out so i had to trek out to TTP.

  • +1

    None left in Brisbane!

  • +1

    Thanks got my vote.
Just picked up 1 from Preston 25 bucks can't go wrong. They still had a optical there, also saw 1 optical in Heidelberg JB yesterday.

  • +1

    None at Hornsby westfield

I got a optical from Narre Warren (vic) for $15, there was about 6 left Tuesday night when i was there, no lasers.

  • Received mine from JB Camberwell today. Quite an impressive bit of kit for $25. It is certainly wider and lower than my G5, and I think this probably suits my large hand (6 ft tall). With the g5, my pinky and thumb were often left with no where to rest. The Ikari seems to suit the hand shape naturally.

In terms of quality, I'd probably have to give the nod to the G5, although not by much. The button press on the G5 feels a bit better, bit more of a solid click. Nice to see the Ikari also has the braided cord line like the G5 as well.

All in all quite happy with the purchase. Not sure if it's any better than the G5 besides the shape, but we'll see how it fares in my next round of CS!

FYI, the guy mentioned that two other people had asked the Camberwell store to source 2 more laser mice. He said he couldn't get any, and that mine was the last.

    • WOW your pretty lucky to still be able to buy an Ikari Laser in Melbourne.

In terms of performance, the Ikari Laser is extremely impressive. I tried moving it around on my table and it was like those things you move around on an Air Hockey table. Almost like there's an invisible force between the surface and the mouse. Feels awesome.

      • It was a transfer from another store so I had to wait a few days for it to arrive.

So far… I'm not quite convinced the shape is for my hand. Can't get quite as comfortable as the G5 as yet. Will persist though.
