Logitech G710+ Mechanical (MX Brown) Gaming Keyboard $140 Delivered from Logitech Shop

80

Hi, I came across this Logitech G710+ mechanical keyboard while trying to find myself one. :)

Good gaming keyboard brand. It looks like a decent mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX brown switch, pretty standard Logitech gaming keyboard features (macro, backlit, media keys, volume control, and key to disable windows key while gaming), and also come with o-rings to reduce sound. Can't find a cheaper price anywhere else. Amazon has it for $129.99 USD ($143.05 AUD).

Not sure when expired. :)

By the way, I have also noticed that Kogan is having its Armaggeddon Stealth Raptor MKA-7 re branded keyboard (mechanical brown) for $95 delivered again.

  • Slightly off topic, but did anyone from OzBargain try Kogan's Armaggeddon Stealth Raptor MKA-7? Any feedback?

    • I wrote a mini-review the last time I saw it advertised here. For me the keyboard is still going strong. I would still recommend it at the discount price, but at full price you should weigh up all your options, not because its bad, but at that price range there is a lot of competition.

As for the noise over the headphone jack, I think I know what the problem might be, and it may be fixable but with a decent amount of modification. (My current thought is that there is a ground loop between the USB and audio jack grounds, isolation should fix the problem).

This was $120 at dick smith recently.
If LogitechShop can get down to that I'll pull the trigger.

I got one for $117.60 last year during HN's Saturday Sale. That is what it should be selling for.

The price history for this keyboard has been truly bizarre, not to mention the RRP is absolute insanity.

Had to spend a few extra dollars to buy some good quality black paint for mine.

Whoever decided on the orange must've been intoxicated at the time…

Speak for yourself, I like it.

Here's a good deal for a better kb in brown switch imo, got them myself.

CM Storm Quickfire TK - Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switches and Fully Backlit

The TK is a bit different in terms of layout to a standard 104 like the G710+, so the comparison isn't 100% fair. Also lacks macro keys.
On the topic of the TK, does your right most enter key work when it's in arrow mode (num lock off)?

      • Yea guess so, but if you dont need macro & media keys the cm storm quick fire tk imo is the one to get.

Also love the clean semi-compact look of it.

Just tested it now and it does work with num lock off.

      • The numpad enter key did not work with numlock off in early versions but CM made a design change to fix this.

    • should make a deal for that, awesome keyboard I have one at home

got it in malaysia for 120, bonus for that deal also is you can pick from 3 switches

i got the blues for clicky click :D

    • Here's a good deal for a better kb in brown switch imo, got them myself.

No macros, no media keys, no USB hub, no easy-to-use driver suite that can run game-specific profiles for most popular games out of the box and it arguably looks worse.

      Fully Backlit

So's the G710+. The LEDs are so bright that if I take the keycaps off and look at them at full brightness they actually hurt my eyes.

      • Only if you don't need those media and macro keys its a whole world better :) I personally dont like the larger keyboards.

I've used both and the build quality of the storm quick fire also trumps the G710+. Was actually going to get it when the price was under 120 from Harvey until I tried it out in store..

Horrible keyboard, I bought one and returned it that week, was the worst keyboard I've ever used, sticking to g19 till a nice price on blackwidow ultimate comes

    • -1

How bad must this keyboard be to be worse than the G19? :\

I don't have any personal experience with this particular product, but Cherry MX Brown are by far the best mechanical switches to get in my opinion.

Not too rackety like blue, but you still get that really satisfying actuation click feeling. So you can type dead silently and still have it feel awesome :D

I myself have a Max Keyboard Nighthawk X8 cherry brown and it's awesome. Well worth the investment, no signs of wear and I've had it for a few years. Set me back about $160 at the time shipped. You'd have to shop around now for a good price, lowest eBay is about $180.

Of course it's a little pricey, but so far it's lasted 2+ years and my previous keyboards at this level of usage only lasted 1-2 years at most. Same should apply to most mechanical keyboards.

    • but Cherry MX Brown are by far the best mechanical switches to get in my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly but still, ensure that flame-proof suit is on tight because from what I can tell MX Brown worship is considered heresy by mech keyboard enthusiasts.

MX Reds have an actuation pressure similar to a dandelion spore, and for those of us with large hands it feels like the keyboard is playing a joke on you, whereas Blues feel like I'm doing finger workouts and sound like a woodpecker having a seizure.

It's also much easier to migrate to MX Browns if you've come from a lifetime of using rubber domes as opposed to going straight to Reds or Blues.

I had a G510 keyboard and it was horrible.

The keys had no feel to them and it wasn't a full sized keyboard (letter keys wise) as they squished all the keys together to make room for all the gaming keys without making the keyboard too big.

I loved the volume wheel though, but took it back the day after I bought it because it was garbage.

This G710 looks to have better keys but I'd never buy a keyboard without at least taking it out of the packet and feeling the keys first since my last experience.

I might check some of these out in the shop sometime, love the volume wheel but I'll have to feel the keys in person.

The g510 is not mechanical, if I recall correctly (on mobile can't check). That itself makes a huge difference. This keyboard is likely nothing like the 510.

      • Yes its not mechanical, I knew that when I was purchasing it but I was just pointing out it was garbage for $120 or so that I paid for it about a year and a half ago. I wont buy another keyboard untested due to that no matter if its mechanical or not.

The keys might be great but it could be crappy plastic or feel cheap etc, you cant tell some things from pictures alone.

    • All corresponding Cherry MX keys feel the same between different brands of keyboards AFAIK.

You can buy a sampler such as this to try out the difference switches and go from there.

      • I bought one from there shop a while ago
        http://www.mechkb.com/deck-cherry-sampler

I wont be buying a mechanical keyboard soon but Ill be getting one with blue switches if I ever do buy one.

        I have 3 IBM KB-7935 keyboards
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STOcoxhAmbU

My brother gave me one in about 2005 (he was working for IBM) and I bought another 2 on eBay for about $5 each as back ups but the original one I started with is still going strong.

    • You are correct, it is not mechanical, but it's a great keyboard for gaming.
