(the X229 29er for example) - Entry level Shimano components, cheap rim brakes, cheap forks, other components are all entry level and cheap, but they do have an alloy frame and are pretty light.
For the price I think they're a decent deal if you aren't looking to spend too much on a bike which will do the job. Other alternatives are Cell (http://www.cellbikes.com.au/) and Polygon (http://www.bicyclesonline.com.au/).
I just tried for the X126 Mountain Bike, It can't stacked up the "SAVE20" coupon. The price still in $223, Hence this is not a lowest price. The lowest price for this bike was $208 at 2mths ago
If you buy from this company make sure you have your local bike shop build the bike for you. Bike Snob on Facebook posted this recently re Reid, "Just posted this On Reid Cycles wall ! The bike in my stand is not safe, sent ot a customer in a box left to assemble themselves: Pedal stripped out, brakes not working etc: The reason for the post is SAFETY this bike is dangerous Just wanted to provide you with some crucial feedback on how you guys sell your bikes. Shipping bikes to customers the following might be important:
Brakes that are correctly adjusted
Instruction on how to install pedals correctly to ensure they do not strip out and then blame the customer for not installing properly.
Tune gears Grease? That is kind of important !
The bike I have in my stand is extremely dangerous and I would be ashamed if this went out of my workshop like this. We remove bikes to be shipped, build correctly them re-box to ensure the customer has a SAFE bike .
I am at the stage where I will not work on Reid bikes any more as the quality(lack of) is that of a Department store. The reason for this post is purely to bring to your attention the SAFETY responsibility you have missed and please look into it ASAP>
I will be rebuilding the bike from scratch and re-threading the crank from where the pedal stripped out after one ride. Thank you"Sorry guys, they must have clicked on the stacking the promos. In regard to assembly, I think anyone would be naive to try and do this themselves if they haven't done it before. Get someone you know can do it, to assemble the bike right?
what's the quality like?
