  • Great price for 4000mAh.
    worth the money.
+ for Samsung Polymer battery & the slim size.

  • Sold! Just what I need for my camping trip. Cheers rep.

  • Hey rep,

Just wondering if you would be able to provide a rough estimate as to how heavy the item is.

    Cheers

  • Just got one.
    Thanks rep!

    • An upvote for the OP would be nice…

  • Grabbed one. Coupon doesn't work for more than one.

  • Sounds like a good deal. Works for most smart phones?

  • -1

Not bad. Grabbed one. Hopefully it will live up to its 4000mAh claim.
    (I will be testing!)
    Thanks Rep.

    • +2

Just keep in mind that all these power banks have conversion loss. The last two I measured was about 30%. If this is similar, it'll be 2,800mAh, plus the conversion losses in your phone.

  • This looks great! I was thinking about buying one during the weekend, I'm glad I held off.

Out of interest, how much charge would this provide an iPhone 5 ??

    • +1

Accounting for losses and assuming the 4000mah is accurate, it should recharge an iPhone 5 completely twice.

  • Hi, how are these different from the powerbank case that hold 4 x AA batteries. In general, they would hold around 10,000mah and are usually around $5 (plus rechargeable batteries). Am I missing something obvious here? Are the charging methods the same or is there a loss of efficiency with the AA powerbanks?

    Thanks

    • how are these different from the powerbank case that hold 4 x AA batteries.

short answer is that they are not really different.

i guess long answer goes into these come with batteries, these dont need an external AA charger (im not familiar with the ones your talking about so i assume they dont charge off usb?), these are thinner. things like that. but in reality they will both charge your fone which is hte outcome you want.

    • +1

They are… similar but different. 4AA batteries will not give you 10,000mAh. The batteries are connected in series which would increase the voltage (4 x 1.2V = 4.8V), but the capacity will remain the same as a single AA, which is 2,000 - 2,800mAh.

All li-ion/poly power banks like this start with a 3.7V battery which is then stepped up to 5V. There are losses in that conversion of about 30%. That means you can expect about 2,800mAh at 5V out of this 4,000mAh pack.

There are no conversion losses with 4 AAs though, so at the end of the day, the capacity could be similar. I haven't looked at the discharge curves yet so I can't say for sure just yet.

      • Lithium batteries heat up quite considerably even at medium charge rates - that represents about a 10% loss, give or take.

The overall 30% loss relative to quoted capacity - in the context of using lithium packs - is about right. That's as long as serious seller-dodge isn't in play…

  • Bought one, thanks!

  • Been looking for a good quality backup battery; i wonder if these will do

  • I'm taking a punt too. Looks good and is quite a good price for it, specially considering the claimed mAh guarantee.

  • I want a free one =) Please pick me Op!

  • Just bought one!

  • This deal looks great! How long will it be on for? I probably won't be able to get it until 9 days later.

Thank you very much rep, I was looking to buy one of these anyway.

    @ozbargain.com.au - stop making me spend money !!!! :(

  • Thanks OP - ordered one!

  • is this 2.1a

    • nope

      Output:5V/1A 5V/2A

  • I am a newbie. It looks like a good bargain from all the comments but
    a) what does it do
    b) what can it do
    c) do I need anything else to use it
Sorry if the questions seem irrelevant but I am very new at this and am curious!

    • +2

      Phone battery flat?
      No power socket around?
Plug your phone into this device and it'll charge it wherever you are.

      • So its just a charger which you charge and carry around and if your phone is flat, plug into it and you can use the phone??

        • +2

          yup!

p.s. it also feeds your cats when you're at the shops.

    • and remember…with Great power(bank)…comes great responsibility!!

  • oh keen!

  • Really tempted…

  • cant resist this. bought it finally. :(:(

    • I thought you already had the sony one :D

      • cant have too many power bank.

  • Thanks, Rep! Ordered the silver one. Spec & appearance look good. One question, what sort of adapter can be used to charge? Will the mobile charger be alright?

    • any usb power scorce. wall brick, PC usb socket, laptop usb socket.. you could even use a 2nd power brick to charge the first one, tho thats a bit dumb :)

the only real difference is how long it takes to charge. if your charging from a pc/laptop (generally 0.5a) or low amp wall brick (anywhere from 0.1a up) it will take at least twice as long to charge as it would with a 1a or more power source

  • Thanks, bought one hope its true 4000mah as stated.

  • Thanks banggood! Another solid bargain! :)

  • i just bought some eneloop batteries.. could I just buy a case to use them as power bank?

mine arrived today. Pretty solid and dense little thing. Slim. Looks well made.
I'm liking how the LEDs have been done. Small, nice little row behind glass. (only appear when they are on)
Arrived nicely packaged in a recycled cardboard box with 3 extra tips and a short flat usb to micro usb cable.

Arrived with 3 of 4 leds showing charge. I've charged it up and will try it out tonight.

    Thoughts on the design.

The grey has a rectangular print across it. I probably should have ordered the black.

Next, it has 2 USB sockets. One is for 1A and the other is 2A. Something printed on the unit to indicate which is which, would be good.

That said, I do like the unit's appearance overall :)

    • +2

I hooked up the 2A socket to my Acer Iconia A1-810 tablet which has a 4960 mAh battery according to Acer.

The tablet was at about 11% charge and was left off overnight.
By morning the tablet was at 68% charge.

so using the 2A socket, I'm ending up with around 2872mAh from a full charge after conversion losses etc.

-> That works out at about 71% efficiency, and wkapri said 70% is the norm, as did eug so this is looking pretty good.

And this one is much more pocketable/easy to transport than my other powerbank, which is more than twice the size and only delivers around 40% more charge despite the increase in size.

Now that it's tested and looking good, I'm wishing we could have gotten 2 at this price …

      • Can someone else do testing?

I've done about 4 full charges overnight and been watching what it does.

It's gradually declined over just the 4 charges and so far has fallen from 57% charge to 45% charging.

Has anyone else used their device a few times? Are you finding that yours is degrading in performance pretty fast or is it just my unit?

        • i only got mine yesterday and been testing my own stuff (how it copes with supplying power while being charged its self) but ill see what i can work out.

the issue with using a fone's charge percentage as the yardstick is that so many things can change from charge to charge. things like temperature or even a cable not being plugged in properly etc…. tho if yours continues to lose power this quickly thats not a good thing and if mine shows similar behavior ill be annoyed…

        • Thanks Nosdan. I'm guessing I probably have a faulty unit, so confirmation from others that theirs is fine would be great :)

        • some strange goingon's a happening.

flattened my fone to 0% yesterday and let it charge up over nite, look this morning and fone is only 80% charged (2500mah fone battery) but like i said using a fone as a yard stick is at best unreliable. then used my 11000mah kogan bank to recharge this one and it only took the kogan brick down 20%. im not sure how reliable the led readout on the kogan is tho. ive just flattened my fone again and connected the eachine to charge it and ill try and keep a closer eye on it while it charges and see where it goes. will also use the kogan bank to recharge the eachine brick to see how much it pulls out this time (its still at 80%, ill keep doing this till the kogan is flat) but by my dodgy calculations (assuming the kogan is correct) it only pulled ~2200mah out of the kogan to charge the apparently 4000mah eachine?

          will keep ya posted

        • I just received mine today. I'll do some tests as well.

        • well fone just finished charging and once again 82%. fone was switched off both times i charged it. kogan bricks telling me its 81% and ive just started charging the echine brick again.

i would have expected better than only 80% charge on a 2500mah battery tho.

        • Thanks nosdan!

        • ok, kogan brick is down to 39% (from 80%)… i guess proving how inaccurate these things can be? eachine brick is back to full charge and going to charge my fone over nite……. with any luck ill get more than 80% by the morning…

        • I changed to one of my cables and got 55%.

I'll see how it goes tonight.

        • I have to double check tonight, I think I got about 52% last night

  • -3

    Anyone received their's yet ?

    • +2

tried reading the post above yours?

still not got mine in SA but usually seems to take longer to get to here than anywhere else

    • I only just got my shipping confirmation on Saturday. That sure took a while.

    • I paid on the 11/03 and received my shipping notice was on 13/03/2014. I complained and they came back claiming it takes 7-25 working days and also blamed the "bad weather". I thought that was a joke.

    • Got mine last Thursday.

    • Mine was paid 10/03, shipped 12/03, still waiting. In Sydney

      • got it today, very nice solid feel, the chamfered edges look nice. Thinking of getting another one, although out of stock at the moment

  • i got mine today, they were out of stock for a while so maybe if you ordered late it will take a bit longer?

seems like a nice piece of kit :)

    • Contacted seller

      • im about 99% sure i didnt have to sign… but i ended up receiving 9 packages all up today and only had to sign for 3 of them so i got a little bit lost which one was which.

        • Thanks for your info! Im a bit worry now :(

        • just pm me your address and ill go pick it up for you (i could do with anyone one muahaha) ;)

seriously tho, if your going away i think you can put a stop on your mail at the post office so rather than delivering anything they will hold it all till your back (or at least im sure they used to do that) stops the place looking unlived in there for at risk of break in's.

failing that, a friend/family member/neighbor who would pop past every couple of days to clear out anything in your box?

        • Im not always leaving the house unattended for weeks so never thought about leaving the mail at Post Office but thanks for your info, now I know they do this kind of service.

My suburb is not safe at all, someone got into my car and took everything inside which was in my car park.

  • hi rep

can you confirm for me that the battery inside of these is a samsung pgf605585a ?

    • Nosdan, As per our product description the battery is a pgf605585a, this battery has great performance and is a key quality of this power bank.
