  • Might be OK if you put an SSD in it. 5400 is too slow.
Anyone know if the drive is SATA and accessible?

    • Most netbooks/ultrabooks use a slimmer 7mm HDD.

Really stretching 'Ultrabook'. Heavy for the size and just a Celeron. But cheap!

Actually, Intel did some renaming last year, some of the higher clocked Atoms are now called Celerons which is why this is actually a Bay Trail SOC rather than Haswell. While it might be pretty slow, the CPU only uses 7.5 watts at full load.

      • Huh, fair enough. Can't blame them for wanting to get away from the memory of some of the utterly glacial older Atoms

    • do you know if are there any decent ultrabooks in the sub 700 price range?

  • Rumcat?

  • if it had gigabit i'd replace my netbook with it

  • Too late now, but unless you need Windows O/S, I would have gone for the lighter although bigger 13" Toshiba

Chromebook for same price with the 10% off. Here it is :

I will grab it next time when on sale, as this month I had to replace a large fridge ( large cost ).

Although only 2 GB ram ( not upgradable ), heaps for running Chrome, the processor is a Haswel chip, an Intel Celeron® 2955U which has almost twice, Yes Twice the performance in PassMark Benchmark Results. 836 V 1533. That should be very noticable in real world use. I know it does not have a large spinning HHD, and only 16 GB ssd on board, but that is easily upgraded with a full size SD slot/card, not to mention the included free for two years 100 GB of storage FREE. Most people buying this will have another faster fully fledged Windows?Mac computer, so this is better looked at as an alternative to a netbook or tablet.

  • According to specification at MyToshiba.com.au, the battery life is only 3.98 hours. You would think with a Bay Trail based CPU should last longer.
