Bot Revolt is a cyber-security company that takes a fresh new approach to prevent cyber-crime. Bot Revolt is a malware connection detection software for Windows. Instead of scanning your files for signs of infections, Bot Revolt monitors active inbound and outbound Internet connections. Bot Revolt checks to see where processes from your computer are connecting to, to which IP addresses and then compares detected IP address with its list of malicious IP addresses, blocking connections that are in fact malicious, created by malware and viruses. Because Bot Revolt updates itself daily, the program gets stronger each day it runs. We add roughly 3,000 new threats to Bot Revolt per day, currently the program blocks over 1.5 billion IP’s. Bot Revolt is also an anti-spying tool that helps consumers monitor who is connecting with their PC and protects their privacy

with malware sites blocked at IP rather than hostname level which will of course lead to over-blocking on shared IPs
A question from a non-expert. Any comments on this comment from Annoyed (not me) on their website?

This is a product, which at it's heart, is a ripoff of PeerBlock, and uses iBlocklist without supporting either. Why not support iBlocklist.com directly, and subscribe to iBlocklist? There are plenty of other FREE anti-malware solutions that do a much better job than BotRevolt in the other areas that BotRevolt tries to protect you. And yes, I did test BotRevolt out for several months to come to this conclusion… It annoys me when people profit and ride on the back of donationware / open source / community-driven initiatives without giving back."
