I read the title and began picturing in my head soft drinks being dispensed on tap from a vending machine lol.

Last couple of times I tried to card tap a machine it hasn't worked.

    • I thought "you can get a free drink or water from the tap anytime"
Re-read the title and thought "…tap vending machine - a vending machine that sells taps?"

  • +4

Thanks OP. 1 free vend valid till 30/04/2014

  • I've just registered on Quick Tap, & signed up for a card, put in the code, it accepted it & I'm in NSW.
Won't know if it works or not yet, as according to the site, all my local machines only do card taps, not app taps….
    Thanks anyway OP!!

  • +6

    Hooray!
These are all over the place, about 10 of them in Blacktown hospital where I work.
Normally $3.30 for a 600ml so this is much appreciated (not that I've ever bought one, but I stare at them thirstily on a daily basis)

    Nice first post, thanks man

    • +4

$3.30 for a 600ml?? Wow that's cheap compared to what I see!!! Here in Campbelltown they're getting closer to $5 every time I look!!!
I too stare thirstily at them….can't remember the last time I bought one from a vending machine….

      • I was just at my local shopping centre (Eastern Suburbs, Vic). $3.50 for 600ml there.

      • $3.30 for a 600ml?? Wow that's cheap compared to what I see!!! Here in Campbelltown they're getting closer to $5 every time I look!!!

Checkout the ones inside cinemas like Hoyts or Village, $5 for 600ml.

        • +2

          Stadium is 5.40

    • Here cans are normally $1.20 or $1.30. I haven't seen $3.30 for a 600 ml for years though. :(

  • I've just signed up and entered the code and I'm in Perth. The app lists locations of vending machines with the quicktap function and there are many in WA so I'd say this promo is nation-wide. Cheers for the post.

    • Have you found anywhere in WA that does the app tap, rather than the card tap?

  • +1

    Thanks. Confirmed in QLD.

  • Seems like you could sign up with a new account every time you wanted a free drink?

Out of interest is there any notification in the app that the code has been successful? My account says $0 and there's no record of the promo so not sure if I'm going to be disappointed come Monday.

    • +2

When you submit your code yoi should recieve a confirmation message (cant remember exactly what ot says but I think it began with congratulations). Your balance will still show $0 after entering the code but when you use either nfc or the barcode scanner at a vending machine you should receive a free vend.

      • "Congratulations, your code has been accepted. Please check your promotions to see what has been unlocked."

    • If you log into your account online, there is a promo tab. There is also a 10% off thing there too for me.

I actually entered my code online after signing up, without the app, and it worked.

  • Any of these around Sydney CBD?

    • Central train station

      • +2

Not app enabled. Plenty in unsw are though . Other universities to o I would guess.

    • Go to the Quick Tap website & you can search for machines….it'll also tell you whether the machines use the card or the app or both

    • +2

I think this is the link for you.

  • Doesnt work for me in WA FYI. :(
    Probably for the best.

    • +1

Worked for me in Perth fyi

      • Have you found anywhere in WA that does the app tap, rather than the card tap?

        • +2

I just got home from Whitfords City and none of the machines there accepted the app :(

They all had QuickTap promotional labels on them but they were for the cards only.

      • +3

        Didn't work at Carousel, Cannington.

  • +4

Sorry your device is not compatible:-( (Huawei Y201)

  • Anyone see any in SA? Searched 5 or so postcodes but looks like only the cards are accepted.

    • +1

I know that there is one in flinders medical centre.

    • +1

Try the name of the suburb instead of the postcodes particularly around universities and big shopping centres
e.g. Adelaide, Oaklands Park, Bedford Park, Elizabeth, West Lakes.

Which is a bit of a silly system considering more than one states uses a suburb name.

      • Thanks :) Yeah I meant to say suburbs not postcodes. None around the shopping centres or city but saw that flinders one now. Will keep an eye out for them :)

        • Basically all at Westfield marion- checked today!

        • Ah really? The location list says only the cards are accepted. Maybe hasn't been updated?

        • All which were around the escalators (exit bus stop) and few near foxtel kiosk said quick tap accepted.

        • +1

I'll check it out next time I'm down there for work thanks!

        • +1

Excuse me soz, but I checked online and it says CARD ONLY at all Marion locations.
The card apparently only takes a few days to get here.

        • +2

All good :) Yeah I just ordered the card before, saves trying to find one that works with NFC, although was looking forward to actually using NFC on my BB for something other than sharing files haha.

  • +2

Nice. I guess many companies are now implementing NFC (like Opal) into their business. Won't have to carry loose change in future.

  • +1

Thanks OP - just signed up and installed the app.

  • +4

yessss free coke rewards tokens! (oh, and a drink)

    • +8

Sign up 400 times and in 40 weeks that JB HI-FI $200 e-Gift Card will be mine.

      • +4

        smells like ozbargain spirit B-)

  • +1

It seems like easy work, but I'm sure they'll put a stop to it eventually. lol

  • +3

I just tried it at 3 different vending machines with scaner , and couldnt redeem anything with the app. It says : hardware needed. Failiure to locate.

    • Maybe only valid at vending machines within SA as originally mentioned by the OP. Looks like further testing is required.

    • Same issue in Brisbane.

  • +3

So I registered and got a free drink credit.

Problem is, when you use the "locate the vending" above, you will see there is NO machine that has the NFC by Smartphone enabled….

At least there is none at Melbourne, Chadstone, and Wantirna South (all VIC).

    Can't redeem then… lol

    • +2

So do what I'm doing & wait a few days for the card in the mail….you've got almost 2 full months to redeem it!!

    • +1

You can just order the card & you'll have it to use within 1-2 weeks, unless you don't want to give out your details.

      • +1

Umm, use what within 1-2 weeks?? The free drink?? Uh, no…. The free drink is registered on my account to use until the 30/4/14
See, I went to the website the OP posted & registered through there & ordered a card straight away, rather than just signing up for the app, so I actually have an account on there where I can see my promo's…

        • +3

Umm, use what within 1-2 weeks??

What I meant was you'll have the 'card in hand' in that time frame & available to freely use at any time before the expiry in 2mths.

        • you'll have it to use within 1-2 weeks

          people's comprehension these days…

        • +1

They prolly read it as "you'll have to use it within 1-2 weeks", which would be completely diff. meaning.

        • Yeah, my mistake, sorry….
It wasn't a comprehension error, more a "the order of the words got mixed up" error… you know, like how people with dyslexia mix up letters in words?

        • -3

Nice, use a meme to make fun of people with disabilities….

        • +1

i suppose i was making fun of myself too? i had major reading difficulties in the first few years of school. even now i still misread the words in the title of some posts here, with varying degrees of hilarity (maybe i just have a dirty mind?) so i make a point to re-read things a few times to be sure.

  • +3

Jeez, people use smart phones to get vending machine drinks? what an age we live in.

  • what a really big deal! Thanks OP.

  • They have installed these at my work (govt dept) and part of the proceeds have been linked to our social club. There are already people having issues with this.

    • +2

      what kind of issues ?

  • +1

From their locator, everywhere in Sydney seems to accept the card but not the mobile app.

  • Thanks for this. I signed up for a Card and the App. I searched for where an App machine would be, but couldn't find any after searching many locations. Oh well, doesn't matter if I get the card. Free 600ml Vanilla Coke! Here I come! Yum!

  • Awesome, more tracking and privacy invasion.

    • -2

I think a big corporation negged me for exposing their corporationy activity.

  • +4

Can confirm it works. Just got a 600ml Vanilla Coke from Central Station (Brisbane CBD)

I already had a card/account, just applied the promo code.

    • Hey, I already have a card too… Did you apply the code on the "My Promos" page after logging in? :( It didn't work for me

      • Yeah I entered the code on that My Promos page and it worked fine. So where it says 'Got a Promo Code? Enter it here:' type the code POWEEKCOKE click submit and in the list of available promos underneath the 10% off promo itll have your free coke listed. If it doesnt work you could try using different browsers or something, eg. Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.

  • +1

Good find, however no machines in Melbourne take the app.
How do you order the card?
I signed up for an account on the app and when I log in (on PC) I don't see anywhere to order the card.

    • +2

If you sign up through the webpage it gives you the option of ordering a card or using the app, or both. I chose to order a card and sign up that way and the promo code could be applied post sign up.

  • Was at Perth domestic airport this arvo, two machines with scan codes, forget the error message now but something like cannot connect to quick tap app or something, anyway didn't work. Another guy tried after me, no go either.

  • Wow, Gold Coast locations - Gold Coast Hospital, 108 Nerang Street… <<facepalm>>

Hey Coca Cola-Amatil, the hospital at Nerang Street is CLOSED.

  • +1

    Great. Thanks op.

  • +3

Lol i was clueless today when trying in the middle of Marion just tapping my phone on this coke machine, I swear someone was staring me down think I was hacking into it!

Anyway didnt work, ive got no idea where the app machines are.

  • So basically this promo is for all machines with tap and go payment imbedded onto their machine? Nice, plenty of these machines every where including train stations.

  • Anyone had any luck with NFC on their phone? (e.g. Nexus 4)

  • Says my device isnt compatible with this version. Cant install app on phone :( Have a Galaxy S1

    • +1

      Not so Lucky13 then..

    • Haha yeah something like that :)

  • Thanks to YadaYadaYada's above post I ended up signing up on their website and getting a card sent out. After sign up you enter the code and they apply the free coke. So alls cool and theres a machine near the cinema we go to so next time free coke woot :)

Also found this on their website. Thought it might help cos some people have said theyve had trouble using the app. Looks like you scan a QR code on the machine with your phone or if you have a really smart smartphone thats NFC enabled you tap your phone against the NFC sticker on the machine to make the purchase.

Anyway see below for cut n paste from their website:

    The QuickTap App

If you have an iPhone or Android smartphone you can scan the QuickTap QR Code on the machine to make a purchase. If you have an Android smartphone which has NFC enabled, you can simply tap your smartphone against the QuickTap NFC sticker on the machine to make a purchase.

    • I got an error using the QR code and NFC doesn't work :/. Ordered a card now though :)

    • +1

I got an error "equipment is required" after scanning the QR code. Does anyone have the same problem?

  • Only getting error. . Equipment required.

    • Are you using the app or have the app open when you scan it, otherwise no idea

      • Yeah it's the app giving the error

        • Oh ok oh well that sux. Maybe they just havent perfected the tech yet :/

  • You can't even use your phone to make payments using paywave yet and they expect this to work, our phone needs to have the special chip, expect iphone 6 to work properly since current phones dont even work.
The only way NFC works is having a special case
    Bought.
Also this isn't the only problem with this com banks new iphone system with payments also have issues, don't expect this to work anytime soon.
    http://gizmodo.com/5541080/in2pay-iphone-case-anywhere-visa-…

    • +1

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 have NFC built into the battery. You don't need a special case for NFC to function. The only problem I see if the vending machines not having the electronic payment option.

  • I guess it's only iPhones not having NFC, lucky to those android phones.
    http://m.computerworld.com/s/article/9242303/Once_again_Appl…

But why would combank and coke lie about it working and tell you to download from the App Store?

  • -1

Does anyone know how to locate these vending machines around melbourne? I've never seen one of them and would like to use one!

    • +3

      Quicktap Locations: https://register.quicktap.com.au/WhereToQuickTap.aspx

      Umm, its in the OP…

      • +1

However, not all of the machine listed there supports the use of smartphone..

        • Well the quicktap locations page is pretty useless… I type in a suburb, and it gives me a vending machine 3 suburbs away. But when I type in the postcode it comes up with nothing

  • Found vm with quicktap logo, qr code (the one like Airasia check in scan code) coin slot, paywave, cc card slots, etc. my iPhone can scan it but the quick app says "quicktap does not recognize that vending machine"

Is it because the code is actually an NFC code which IPhone/iPod could not scan (which should not be the case coz the app says could not recognize it must be able to read it before it decides, rite?) or the vending mchn should be in the list quicktap has provided?

  • anyone tried a Galaxy Nexus 3,4 or 5 with NFC on to see if works?

  • -1

says i have got the coke.
where does it show i have this credit?

also how do i redeem it?

  • +1

Not looking good with galaxy nexus with NFC on….. Registered, code in, went to app…. placed in front of machine nothing happened??????

  • The site seems not to list any NFC/Smartphone compatible vending machines, but they do exist. I haven't actually seen any in train stations or other public places, but many of the vending machines at Union House at UoM do have this. I used NFC and got a free Coke today without problems! :)
