Is it BYO eggs or are they supplied ?

    • -1

Is it worth attending or will I be walking on egg shells?

    • +7

Time to get Kogan back for that Galaxy S4 stunt he pulled on us lol

      • -1

So, you didn't get a $$$ voucher for your disappointment & time?

PS Please don't murder him there, I really wouldn't like to hear that such an event got interrupted by a crime scene team, etc.

    • +1

      We'll be rustlan Kogan's jimmies.

    • BYO pillow.

Kogan says exactly the same thing every time he speaks.

  • +6

Why is it free? What's the catch?
Do they brainwash you to buy more Kogan products and eat Eggle Boyz pizza?

    • +4

get people to buy books/upgrade to the VIP package

      • So, it's -free-… Unless you want to buy books, etc. for $57

These kinds of events can be good for networking, if you can resist buying everyone else's pitches, & gently push through one of your own… ;-)

PS Didn't OzB have an Amazon freeie deal - a while ago - for a Kindle version of UnProfessional?

I find these sorts of seminars already reinforce what someone with a Business degree and related skills already knows. Putting it into practice and coming up with the next big "killer idea" is the hardest part.

These Entrepreneurs had impeccable timing to the market, lots of vision/foresight and bit of luck really. Anyone can dream of becoming the next dot com millionare but I am not planning on becoming that rich or successful. The odds are very small of that happening.
Of course, once you have made your wealth(1st $mil) you can just keep investing it and gobbling up smaller companies(acquisitions) and getting richer and fatter(Gina R… cough cough).

They actually want you to sign up for their 12 month mentorship course. Waste of time

Mmmm a day filled with 'none-speak'… I hope they show how to energetically reconceptualize value-added markets…

I went to the last Melbourne one and it was a great, inspiring day. I'll for sure be going again.

They try to get you to sign up for coaching (for anyone wondering why they offer all this stuff for free), but aren't pushy about it and it's not just a day of being told why you need private coaching.

If you are on the fence, just go.

    Sponsored by Amway

    • Now, they push (eg, you're surrounded - on each seat beside you - by someone in the Amway "game") …from what I've heard. (She noticed that in Adelaide's intro talk.)

Could I get an OzBargain T-Shirt so that everyone knows I'm immune to sales tactics before I have to explain it to them?

      PM me.

      • Do want.

    • Forget the Past & move on…

Instead, invest in [a T' that says these words, sans plusses]:

      • "Energy fr Thorium: Safe
      • Liquid-Fuel Nuclear 2.0"

In big, warm fonts & colors…

I wonder why Perth is the only location where the event is held on a weekday?

    • +16

We already laughed at you about three hours before you typed that!

    • If it makes you feel any better, you guys are better off than Hobart.

    • Miners get really -long- "weekends" there.

  • Where is Hobart?? I thought it was a Capital City…

    • These guys are chasing $$$ & [maybe even] smart people.

Proof: Listed capitals are ranked by size / wealth.

    • +5

Hobart is part of New Zealand.

      • +2

        … on the west island?

  • +3

fyi: Scott Farquhar will only appear at the Sydney event.

  • Gee I wonder if Tom Potter will still use the terminology he used 10 years ago in regards to franchisees.

    A Franchisor was a F#$Kor.
    A Franchisee was a F#$Kee.

I was involved in Eagle Boys in WA as a franchisee and saw many lose their houses, I was lucky I had a partnership and sold out when I heard Pizza Haven was coming to town.

I quickly learnt that only one gets rich from most franchise systems.

  • Thanks for the heads up buddy! much appreciated

Be warned, I attended one of these "winners" seminars last year. 95% is high pressure selling of packages and systems and software on all sorts of money making ventures (think shares, real estate, options, property speculation, horse racing, ebay selling, motivational speaking etc etc etc etc) - In the other 5% of the time they wheel out a few big names (usually around 6pm when you are ready to go home) and give them a 15 minute interview.

  • So are we supposed to get emailed a ticket or what? I haven't received anything yet.

    • +1

      Still haven't received a confirmation email either…

  • Silly question - do you need to be under 40 to attend?

  • I will go and bring my laptop with full charge. In case they start talking about coaching etc, I will just continue working on my real business on my laptop.

  • I attended these a few years ago, bit of a scam really. Didn't get much out of it and they only try and push you for a membership.

Sounds like kogan's going to try to convince you to buy his crappy extended warranty for his dodgy grey import phones.

  • Edited.

Excellent day today in Brisbane, and a great group of speakers. There was definitely no high pressure sales, and out of the 8 hour day, only about 10 mins was devoted to advertising their coaching program.

  • Is this something you can rock up to at any point or do you have to be there at registration time?

    • if it's like most conferences then just turn up whenever you like :)

  • What a shame — I didn't see this till today :(
