  • The Malaysia Airlines and KLM Business Class products on these routes are pretty ordinary — both have angled lie-flat seats unlike the fully lie flat seats of many other carriers. Also note that travel must be by 31 March (not sure if the return leg needs to be completed by then), which is pretty short notice. :)

    • KLM is rolling out full flat seats…

Those new seats are only currently on KLM's 747 fleet (all 22 747's in their fleet will be converted by April).

The KLM flights relevant to this promotion, though, from KUL-AMS, are on their 777-200s, which still have their older business class product — not fully lie flat. :)

  • I've never flown business but would like to know why people pay 3-4x the cost of cattle class for a flight?

In this example, a couple would have about $7000 less spending money that could make a holiday awesome, instead of the boring bit of flying being little less boring. I don't understand a 20 hour flight worth $150-$175/hour/person more…..

Generally (aside from business) it's for those people who have enough money that spending here wouldn't take it away from making the rest of the trip "awesome."

Or they've used FF points, again it's not impacting the rest of the trip.

      • That's lot of burgers. The one who can afford $5K, why would he be hunting deals on Ozbargain.

        • Looking to save money like the poor like us

    • I usually try and fly business, apart from the lounge access (free food, drinks and massage chairs etc), I can write the flight off on my business tax (self employed), I also gain points for my personal flights, plus I save time when I arrive as I'm not needing to recover anywhere near as much as if I'd flown economy (you can actually sleep). You also get the added bonus of getting on last and off first, your luggage allowance is bigger, you also get your luggage first on the turnstiles. You can also ask for what ever you want and they do it with a smile instead of a snarl….

Spare a thought for those over 6 foot. A crappy uncomfortable long flight can waste a day or two catching up on sleep on top of jetlag. I would like to see more investment in a premium economy service by airlines.

As always use your own judgement, there may be extenuating circumstances, but it is good to stay informed regardless.
