Makita 18V LTX Blower (Skin Only) $59 at Sydney Tools

90

If you're not near one of their stores (or have had unpleasant experiences with ST) then price match at Bunnings works out to $53.10

This is a compact cordless blower for smallish areas. Don't expect to be able to run it for hours at full speed but it does a decent job for it's size.

Skin only = no battery or charger so only really of interest to people who already own Makita 18V gear.

Could be their normal price but cheap enough to be worth a post

  • Please change title to state clearly that battery is not included.

"Skin only" is a pretty meaningless phrase for most.

"Battery not included" is clear for all.

Unfortunately "Skin only' is the very common industry standard for a tool with out a battery. I agree, it is helpful for people to understand there is no battery, but this term is used by nearly all tool companies now, so people better start learning what it means. The other common term is "Bare Bones".

Helpful to understand?! I'd say, it's essential, if you think that you are buying a unit with a battery? Lol

Whilst it might be a commonly used term in the industry, you generally won't see it on any advertising material aimed at the general public.

I only learned about this term in 2013, when looking at power tools. I agree it's unclear and in my opinion a stupid way to say no battery is included.

      • +2

        BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED.

        Your foreskin not included.

Will they start advertising remote control cars 'skin only' soon as well?

What deal88 said. Every day's a school day.

Skin only also means no charger. It's a common enough term and also clarified in the description. If enough people are confused by the title I'm sure it'll get updated.

There are places for blowers no doubt but for the sake of our ears and the environment buy a rake or a broom.

    • -1

This is no louder than a vacuum cleaner and will clear places a rake or broom can't.

It's faster too so will free up more time to give people advice on equipment you've never used.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great place to share experiences with good or dodgy products and services but keep it to subjects you're familiar with.

  • Anyone used one? Does it do a good blow job?

    • Probably does, just not for the area inhabited by snakes.

    • It did a good job at clearing my 20m2 deck in about a minute. Not as powerful as a petrol unit but cleared more debris that I could with a broom.

Hope that's the kind of blow job you're interested in.

buy 2 and make yourself a mini hovercraft

    • but you're only buying Skins, where are you going to get the POWER from?

      • duh, from the batteries of my current Makita 18v set.

    • might need a few more for the golf cart one!

  • Good deal if you can pick up. $89.00 at Bunnings.

    • Bunnings will price match
