Good price! How is this vs Astraweb for content being taken down?

    • About the same, get things quickly or they disappear. There's been some success with obfuscation as well.

Firstly, this is a good price.

I find Astra far better. I got this same NGD 2TB deal as part of their Black Friday promo.
I will use NGD as my primary because with this deal it is cheaper than Astra ($50 1TB), then when I don’t get what I want, I turn Astra on, and so far I always get it.

Of course there are cases where it is nuked for all.

Came across a decent indexer last night, and Aus one www.oznzb.com

      • Thanks for the oznzb heads up.

    • I have Tweaknews as a backup and still found content taken down very quickly.

The only solution for very popular content from super rich TV/Movie networks is to download it within the first few days, this is easy with automated software.

  • This is getting to be a pain. So many files popping up that have passwords that you have to sell your mother wife girlfriend and your favourite n*t to get.

    • +2

I would never sell my favourite net for a file.

    • This means you are not using usenet properly.

Stop using Raw indexers, I don't understand why people do this when they sign up to usenet.

There is a subreddit on reddit for this kind of thing, and plenty of other resources to find real index sites instead of raw sites.

  • What's the download speed like? Any chance it'll go close to saturating a 100mbit cable connection?

    • It depends..

You won't get much better then 50mbit with 20 or so connections.

However block accounts generally have unlimited connections so if you give it 40-50 connections then yes it should.

Back when I had two unlimited Supernews accounts I was getting 100mbit.

  • My connection is only 12MB and it runs flat out all the time. I reckon it would keep yours busy as well

      So 1.5megabytes/sec

  • $60 US gets you 6 months unlimited from other providers.

I get about 70mbit from fastusenet with 50 threads.

    • By 6 months, you mean 12 months. Right?

  • Hey guys.

Since we're on the topic of usenet. I'd like to know is I'm on a 100mbit cable plan, I'm using news hosting as my provider, and my max download speed is 5 MB/sec? Does that sound right as all?

    • Its good… but your max speed is around 11 MB/s if you are with the right provider.

I have 100mbit cable as well and thats the speed I had when I had two providers running (you can achieve it with one provider if its the right one)

    • Hey buddy I use Astra and with my NBN connection I get 9MB download speed at times max but more like 6 - 7 MB.
