Got one of these phones a while ago from JB Hifi for $99. Great phone for the price. Got it unlocked by Bagman and works like a treat.

Mainly use it for games and a back up phone when I recharge the card. Works great as a wifi hotspot and battery ain't bad with battery defence.

Only thing that shits me is the touch screen has trouble picking up my gestures.

  • not bad phone for the price. got mine for $89 during a DSE family sale a while ago. the camera is terrible i dont know if i changed a setting for it or not but its really dark and no good at night. also the back arrow key is annoying as its opposite other phones. Got mine unlocked free from Telstra. Told them im going on holidays overseas and they checked my other services and cam back after on hold for 10 minutes and agreed to waive the $27.50. Otherwise call up and ask what date the 2 years for your imei is up and get done free then. Unlocked it doesnt give you the optus 900mhz though. does anyone know how to get the 900mhz on this phone? i wonder if its possible or you need to do a factory reset or root it to get the 900 mhz?

    • I don't know much about phone technology but I know you won't be able to add/change bands on your phone through rooting or any software hacks.

Pretty sure that's a hardware thing, nothing you can do.

  • how much RAM!?
    please put into description :(

  • CPU: MSM8960 1.5Ghz (GPU Adreno 225)
    Usable Internal Storage: 2.58GB

The screen quality is below par. It is not IPS. Not only that, the colours appear washed out. For a phone running MSM8969, it can be a bit laggy sometimes (which is surprising). Screen resolution of 800x480 is also a bit disappointing. Camera is also sub-par. No HDMI support (at this price cannot expect it to be included).

Main competitor phone is: Huawei Ascend G526. G526 has a much better screen, but G526's internal phone storage partition was done very poorly, leaving you with less than 1GB to install apps. G526's dual core CPU is slower, though it actually feels less slightly less laggy than Frontier 4G.

I was going to plus your comment until u complained about the screen resolution. Seriously it's under a hundred. What did u want 960x? Not much different. Or 1280x? This res is still in use on some flagships. The res is fine for the price and size.

You are right on the money with the Huawei, no one want a phone they can't install apps on. Nite sure about ZTE support but Huawei stinks, the worst I have encountered across any platform.

960x would be good (like the Huawei). Huawei 526 (when it was on special) was also $99 - and had a good chance to get a free unlock code on Voda Web site.

Why is it an issue? Because if it is 960X, it can get the iPhone 4 optimised view / layout of HTML 5 Web sites. Unfortunately, like it or not, most HTML 5 Web sites are based on i-Devices resolutions. Sure, with 800x480, you can still look at most sites, BUT the site gives you the layout designed for iPhone 3G/3GS. Furthermore, the extra screen real estate when browsing does make a difference.

Also, screen res is one way branded manufacturers (Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG) use to differentiate their product range (low end, mid range, high end). 800x480 is considered low end now.

Don't give a damn about + or - for my comment. Can't exchange a +ve vote for cash or anything.

        • Have a plus for teaching me something new, not sure if I would notice myself in the real world and though and probably can't be armed working it out as I've left that res behind with the HTC one
