Great price I think.
Nice, I've been waiting for this to come on special again. Anywhere that will price match this deal?
Why are dyson's so expensive? It just because its bagless?
Your buying the brand name of a dyson … I have an original older model thats still running fine ( > 8 yrs old).
You can get plenty of cheaper bagless / cyclonic ones these days also of course they dont come with the Dyson name…
They also work..
Cheapie vacuums are useless. I made that mistake with my first one.. would have been more efficient using a straw and sucking up the dust myself!
3 months later, it became my shed vacuum (sucks up sawdust OK) and I splashed out on a unit that actually works..
If you're paying less than $150-200 you aren't going to get much cleaning done.
In defence of cheapie vacuums:
I've had the same cheapie that works as my main vacuum for over six years. Compare this to my parents who bought a Dyson. Outside of warranty period it broke down and required expensive repairs.
Conclusion: Anecdotal evidence is useless :P
I bought this for like $398 half a year ago so I'm a bit surprised that it's actually become more expensive, what with the economy crashing and all. Great vaccuum, but this price seems to be the going rate.
Yeah, I vaguely recall this or a similar model being sold at a Domayne warehouse sale last year ~$350 mark and thinking wtf at the price. But then my mother in law said something similar to pw2002au, she's had a Dyson for years and years and still works fine.
Nothing against this deal, but the most reliable vacuum cleaner brand is Miele.
Dyson is more about branding and marketing, it doesn't mean that they don't make good product, but they are not as good as what they claim and especially not even close to Miele products.
Lol, ur kidding right? As if Miele doesn't do the exact same thing! For appliances of the exact same spec, you're paying heaps more for Miele over other just as reliable brands (I renovated recently so my research is pretty fresh in my head still).
Not saying Miele is bad, but like Dyson, you're certainly paying a premium for their brand and the way they position themselves in the market.
Dyson is overpriced for the quality you get. Its like an oversized toy vacuum. Miele is much better bang for your buck in our experience, owning both a miele vacuum then going to a dyson, then switching back to a miele after we found the dyson was useless at picking up pet hair.
Ergonomics of a dyson is rediculously horrible too, with the oversized heavy handle, and crappy accessory head holder. (its not very useful when coming to cleaning cars and getting into tight spots) Sometimes simple design is the best. Though Dysons their bagless option was nice.
This is sidetracking though. On the deal itself, its pretty good so I'm + it, even though I'm not a fan of the actual vacuum itself.
I got a Miele as well, and while I hated the Dyson we had before, the new generation of Dysons are actually very good and of a high standard. I guess people figured out they were overpriced for that you get and they had to improve their product line.
My comparison was relative. And no I'm not joking. I don't have experience about Miele's other appliances, I just talked about their vacuum cleaners and yes their are best in same price range as any other brand. In fact Miele is the only vacuum cleaner that trap all the dirt inside. Next time you turned on your Dyson check it's body and you will find that it blows like a punctured ball in every corner! They also claim to have HEPA filter but the fact that they aren't sealed completely means that their filter is useless.
I used to go door to door selling a brand of vacuum cleaner that costed around $2500, but we would give huge discount if you bargained.
I now own a Dyson DC14, its an upright one. Bought it for about $450 off Ebay. Its not a bad appliance except its way too noisy! I had to use ear muffs when I use it (really! I have a pair of ear muffs attached to it) Noise is a common complaint again DC14 but I'm not sure if DC19 has the same problem. Better check before you buy.
I'll have too see how well my Dyson hold up against time. I already had 2 vacuum cleaners died on me in the last 4 years (about $150 each).
I'll get HN to beat the price. Yea
Harvey Norman Auburn (NSW) have normally have these on sale when they have one of their big events.
Last 2 times they had their massive sales I noticed the DC19Y on sale for $369.
$399 is still a good price if you can't wait though.
It's very rare to see a really good vac on special. I remember when Dick Smith were getting rid of their small appliances they had Dysons going at a really hot price. This too is fairly good so I've given a positive.
I recommend everyone getting an industrial back pack vacuums instead. Very strong suction, long cords and easy to clean. On top of all these, it quite cheap if you are willing to spend $400 on a vac..
Can't imagine a 50+ old women wearing an industrial backpack vacuum. Its a bit excessive for domestic use dont you think?
im tempted to buy a spare.. i love this vacuum!
I'm a happy Dyson owner (and even happier I don't have to 'use' it!). There has been discussion of the reliability of Dyson vacuums but my own experience is all good. I'd buy one again, unless we have a horrible after sales service experience in future.
Nice deal, thanks!
