I love my Waterpik, but $159 is just too expensive, I think. I bought mine from Amazon and it's only US$86 + postage at the moment. I do have to use a step down transformer to use it here, but still much cheaper than buying it locally. Not sure why it's so expensive here. And if you just want the Waterpik without the electric toothbrush, it's US$50 + post on Amazon.

    • How much is postage? I've known postage to Australia be around $50 for smallish things from the US. A link would be awesome if you could provide one. Cheers!

"100% OZ stock product, very safe package, and CourierPlease delivery."

    Sounds like an ad

    • I just copied my feedback here. Sorry for making you confused.

    • Yea, but plus around $10 for a transformer. The one you linked is most likely 110V not 110-240V.

Also for such a small price difference, it is not worth it risking possible water leakage faults (which seem to occur quite often in Waterpiks and other similar brands).

I personally got the Panasonic Doltz Water Flosser direct from Japan for around $80AU and $5 transformer. The reviews on that is really good, however its exclusive to Japan only (also MADE IN JAPAN), not sold in any other countries.

Sigh… the japanese keeping the best things to themselves.

  • Ipalau just a quick search on ebay shows it is sold here in Australia for $AU $67.90

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PANASONIC-EWDJ10A-DJ10-PORTABLE-O…

    • Nah not that one.
Its the one that is similar to Waterpik where it has a hose and a reservoir.

      Panasonic Doltz EW1250P-W
      http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B001MBV4SI/

Pretty good reviews overall, all the low star reviews are simply mentioning "reservoir not enough, compared to the Ricoh Dentrex or Omron", which both aren't available outside of Japan also (SIGH).

When I was doing all my research, I couldn't find this model or any similar Panasonic models which were sold outside of Japan.

It is also made in Japan which is a plus.

The Oral-B Braun Water Flosser which I saw in Hong Kong was sadly made in China, different to all their other products which is made in Europe somewhere.

If you do get the chance to travel to Japan, I'd suggest picking one up.
If not, then maybe use a redirector service? lol.

      • The Panasonic EW1250P-W cost US$145.09 + free international shipping.

        http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-Genuine-Panasonic-EW1250P-…

        • Haha, yea.
Saw that. But not willing to pay AUD$165 (US$145.09) for it since you can get a waterpik in Australia. And if it breaks you can bring it back for warranty.

For $80 it is definitely worth the risk of it breaking down.

The Japanese Seller is just price gouging the rest of the world, knowing that Panasonic never released it in other markets.

        • The Panasonic EW1250P-W will probably last 10 times longer than Waterpik WP900. You don't need warranty on Japanese made products, they'll last 10 years plus…

  • I use basic CEDEL toothpaste and a $2-3 brush once a day, never use floss nor mouthwash and haven't been to the dentist for 24 years without any problems. Am I doing something wrong?!

    • +1

same D:.. Yet my teeth are fine.. i think

    • +1

Are they dentures or real teeth?

    • +3

Haven't been to the dentist for 24 years - you might be surprised what state your teeth are in below the gum line if you do bother going.

      • +2

Can confirm. Undergoing treatments for my gums now.

      • +1

Absolutely agree… however I too was thinking this 20 years ago and have been waiting for something bad to happen ever since. No bad breath, no blood, no pain, none of the usual things the marketing tells me I'm supposed to suffer. I don't go out of my way to eat crazy healthily but also don't binge and nor have any addictions. Sure, my teeth aren't pure white and sure they're not exactly straight either but yeah it's an interesting experiment I'm doing to myself ;) Maybe I've just got a good method of brushing? Dunno.

Sounds silly but I'm just going to sit back and let whatever happens happen just to prove/disprove a point ;) The longer I leave it the older I get and the closer I get to the possibility of dentures anyway so I'm keen to see how it goes. I'd love to go to the Dentist just to get a checkup to know how I'm tracking since 1989 but I can't break this record now :) I've never made a claim on my health insurance, wouldn't even know how! Someone's benefiting from the tens of thousands I've paid ;)

    SONIC BOOM!

  • How much better is the pik compared to floss?

    • +1

It's not. Ideally you use them both. A waterjet flosser can be used after proper flossing to flush out any small stubborn particles the floss missed.

      • is the jet stream really strong and hard?

        • is the jet stream really strong and hard?

          That just sounds dir…ugh

This model (and the one without the toothbrush) has pressure settings. The gentlest setting is quite gentle, the strongest I use to clean that gunk that gets in the sink area…

  • how does this compare to Philips' sonic toothbrushes?

    • They're not toothbrushes :) Phillips also make a water flosser as well, I think it's called Airfloss (or something similar)

      • sorry for misleading, i meant the toothbrush in this set.

        • Don't know about the Waterpik, but I have a Sonicare and I swear by it. Really good.

      • They're not toothbrushes :) Phillips also make a water flosser as well, I think it's called Airfloss (or something similar)

The Airfloss alone costs as much as this complete set..

  • I have to say I'm very interested in this thread….. my dentist said I need to get one of these.

I scoped them out at chemist warehouse over the weekend, the standward Waterpik "cordpless plus" was $136 and the Ultra was $156.

EDIT - found the Ultra on ebay for about $135 deliverd:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Waterpik-Water-Flosser-Ultra-RRP-…

This "completecare" on ebay basically looks the same as the Ultra but includes a toothbrush as well - but I already have a decent electric toothrush. I don't want to have to use different brush heads… anyone know if I can use my existing oral-b electric on the waterpik's base?

    • anyone know if I can use my existing oral-b electric on the waterpik's base?

Unlikely. They all have different connectors because they want you to buy their heads instead of a competitor's.

    • If your existing oral b is not the sonic version then the waterpik toothbrush will be an big upgrade anyway.

When you get the waterpik add a little baking soda and some mouthwash for taste.

      • Oh I didn't realise it came with a sonic toothbrush. Are they really that much better?

        • yes however results are subjective.

      • Careful with adding that sorta stuff. As It may make the inner tubing or the tubes harden and cause leaks overtime.

Similar to what E10 did to cars which had hoses not formulated against it. People had hoses cracking and what not.

        • haha love it, old man advice, thanks old man!

I got one of these instead and attached it to the shower.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-PIKs-ORAL-IRRIGATOR-METAL-DIVER…
(Yes, I have a mirror in the shower - I shave in there too and brush my teeth, do my taxes etc)

  • I bought one few weeks ago from the same seller, i think. I wish i bought one of these years ago. Does a great job cleaning and flossing the teeth. Unfortunately the price for the unit is expensive to the U.S, which is at least 50% less. But HN are selling them for $249, so this is the cheapest i could find for this model in A.U. The only thing i don't like about it is the water pump, it's a bit loud when using the flosser. But other than that, i love it.

  • I was going to buy this model from AMAZONE and use this

    http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MF1091

    use 110v converter from jaycar.

    it still works out cheapter.

I bought mine from h/n 2 months ago $148 but it was price error..but they gave it to me for that price anyway :)

Not a bad unit..enough in water tank for a few minutes depending on power level. I use mine on 8 or 9.

I have braces so flossing is near impossible.

Takes a bit of getting use to without drowning or spraying the bathroom wall and accidentally pushing the wrong button and releasing the tip which inevitably goes straight down the plug hole :(

my mouth always feels clean afterwards..

ok in addition to brushing etc…but not a replacement for a proper dentist clean and scale.

  • Get this, $47AUD delivered.

    http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-EW-DJ10-A-Oral-Irrigator/dp/…

The waterpik's sell for $40USD on amazon, so paying $159 is too much.

    • Everything in Australia are overpriced.

    • That's $47USD - Which at today's rate is about $54AUD.

This is Aus Stock with 1 Year warranty for $63.60 Delivered (use code: 5off1st): http://www.shaverhut.com.au/panasonic-ewdj10a-portable-water…

$10 difference for Aus warranty/piece of mind

      • I have one of these - they're decent. Only issue is drying out the reservoir… I might pick up a new one TBH.

      • $47AUD is $47AUD …. :P

(you need to clip the coupon/ its regularly below $30USD anyway, so right now isnt the best price)

Amazon will honour the warranty aswell, other overseas store wont though.
