  • On spokey dokeys

they actually make you ride faster

Should have done my thesis on this one!

    • Yeah, only because you don't want to be embarrassed by the clunking noises when you slow down!

      • Street Cred is not embarassing.

  • +1

Probably the most terrible service I've ever received (Glebe store + Online store). Would definitely not recommend.

    • Same. The bf bought me a bike at the beginning of December as a Christmas present - I still haven't got it. They told him they oversold them and are waiting for more stock. Pretty poor form.

      • Don't expect any kind of recompense, or a response when you call their store and leave a message, or when they promise they will get back to you.

They might even arrogantly put different parts on your bike and tell you its ready to pick up - then expect you to wait 5 weeks for a part change later on - WHILE keeping your extra money spent.

Staff are also oddly passive-aggressive. They make it seem like they're doing you a favour if asked to do what they're obligated to do.

All signs point towards a poor manager that needs to go back to management school.

        • Same here. Very arrogant and un-friendly staff. They nowhere treat you like a potential customer. Definitely No No….

  • What's a good bike for commuting to work that isn't a proper roadbike? I'm thinking something kinda like a mountain bike with with thin/slick tyres?

Basically I wanna ride to work but I'm really not a confident enough cyclist to go on the road. 2/3rds of the way is a cycle path, the rest is footpath.

    • Check hybrid bikes - they are somewhere between road and mountain.

      • How does one know a good hybrid though? All the stuff about groupsets doesnt seem to apply?

        • i am in the market for a hybrid.. would someone recommend a new reid hybrid or a 2nd hard one (top brand) from gumtree of ebay
