Toshiba used to make the best laptops, but not for a long time.

    • same as Sony.

if quality/price matters, you get what you pay for. But my Toshiba laptops have last for at least 5 years each.

5 years ago is about when their decline began…

        • My Qosimo F60 with a 330 chip is still going strong after all this time, though I admit to boosting the memory and changing out the HDD to a 256GB SSD when I first bought it.

    • May I azk which manufacturerz are the reliable onez now?

(Typing from my 8 month old Tozhiba c850 that haz juzt retired itz 's' button)

  • "They're having a refurb/ex-demo/etc sale"

This info probably should be in the title

Not sure if these are deals or not or if they are all old as the hills…? I was wanted something that had decent processing power (we do 2d AutoCAD for land surveying) with good battery life was thinking a 15 inch since it would be easy to ready for long has. Any suggestions?

Get a dell Latitude from Dell Outlet. Better build quality, better customer service, more up to date specs.

      • +1

my experience is couple of the dell refurb models broke down within a year, even the one sent back for warranty & return with a different unit, avoid these outlet at all cost!

        • Never even knew they had an outlet. Can you extend the guarantee? I saw then i7 15 inch that looks ok.

        • don't think you can!

and these outlet operate differently to retails, warranty must go back to outlet which is sucks @ warranty/return!

but even if you manage to extend the warranty, these refurb models do have REASONS why they end up at outlet instead of normal retail channel or some place like GraysOnline..

  • Hmm..which one is the stand-out "bahh-gaain">>>????

    I grabbed one of the,

    HOME LAPTOPS / Satellite L730/055 - $440 (incl $0 freight charge.)

Intel Core i5 2450M, Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 13.3" Widescreen HD LED Backlit Display, 4GB DDR3 (1333MHz) RAM, 750GB SATA (5400rpm) Hard Drive, DVD-SuperMulti (DL) Drive, WLAN (802.11b/g/n), 1Gbps LAN, 3x USB Portsandy

Sure it's a Sandy Bridge CPU, but frankly there has been little change. The current Haswell chip i5 4200M is only marginally quicker. RAM and HDD are pretty standard and still the same now on current build laptops.

Good deal, a very capable i5 for $440 bucks.

    • The current Haswell chip i5 4200M is only marginally quicker.

But far better power use/ battery.

      • You would think so but it is not actually the case. The i5 2450M is actually 2w more efficient.

        i5 2450M - 35w vs i5 4200M 37w

In reality, no difference at all in real world power consumption. The steps between Sandy Bride, Ivy Bridge and Haswell have be unremarkable.

        • most user didn't realize Intel are on their bottleneck!

they think they should upgrade to the newer Gen just because the model number(i5-2xxx vs i5-4xxx) look faster

        • If you are quoting the TDP that isn't the typical power consumed. The bang per watt and hence the battery life depends on the efficiency of the CPU and a host of other factors. The TDP is merely a guide to what the motherboard designer must do for cooling under a maximum typical load.
