Before buying this, I strongly recommend you check the ingredients!
Some baby wipe products contain a chemical called methylisothiazolinone (used as a preservative) that may cause rashes. http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/yikes-baby-wipe-ingredient-…
This article indicates the presence of methylisothiazolinone in Huggies baby wipes and is considered toxic. Having said that, the writer is US based so the wipes that TRU is selling locally may use a different preservative.
http://www.ireadlabelsforyou.com/huggies-baby-wipes-safe-or-…Huggies Australia have no affliation with Huggies US, their products are completely different
Further to this, below is a detailed Q&A from Huggies site on this product
http://www.huggies.com.au/nappies/wipes/questions#q1
And in case you cant be bothered to click on the link
Q. Do Huggies Baby Wipes contain preservatives and are they safe for baby?
A. All leading baby wipes, irrespective of brand, include preservatives necessary to protect wipes against bacterial or fungal contamination. Huggies Baby Wipes contain Methylparaben as a preservative. Even though Australia has one of the more stringent regulatory systems in the world for cosmetic ingredients and labelling, Methylparaben has been deemed safe when used as a perseverative by the National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS), the regulator of cosmetic products in Australia.
Huggies Baby Wipes have undergone thorough internal and independent safety evaluations that support our confidence in the quality and safety of our products. Huggies Baby Wipes are today and have always been completely safe for mothers to use to clean their baby.I think that these wipes, which, as the webpage you link to says, 'have been produced for the Australian market', are made in America.
Your main point still stands.
I did read that link actually, which is why I said to check the ingredients instead of advising people not to buy them at all.
Parallel imports of this product are present in our market, which Huggies AU is aware of as they address this on the same page - http://www.huggies.com.au/nappies/wipes/questions#q20
I'd like to think my first point is still valid.
You didn't give us all the information then did you? This post is specific to Huggies wipes at TRU in Australia, why not post information relevant to that instead of generic information about American product?
I really hate the fear mongering that goes on with all baby products, scaring new parents into thinking they're doing the wrong thing by their baby
I'd like to think your post added nothing to the discussion and was an attempt to confuse people about a well known product that's been in the market for years, tested safe and never had a problem
Sure, a government body staffed by scientists said it's fine…but but but… a BLOG told me it was bad!
Me and my unvaccinated, homeschooled child refuse to spend our bitcoins on this product.
(thanks, OP, I swear to go we go through a huge box of these things every week!)
you dropped your tin foil hat
