    it amuses me a bit - if burning the flag offensive, then what is farting on it?

      No, it was still incorrect. Australia (as a nation) was established on January 1 1901.

      Actually we didn't call our country Australia officially till 1 January 1901 so it was the wrong date in any case (and pretty naive to think someone wouldn't complain). Also according to the history books the "British Crown Colony of New South Wales was not formally promulgated until 7 February 1788".

      I'm sure Aldi got more benefit from the free publicity than the profit from the t-shirts most people wouldn't have noticed anyway.

  I like the T-Shirts, but I dont like the idea of wiping my dirty feet on our country flag.
  It's not racist, but it is disrespectful of those that died for that flag.

  The symbolisim of a doormat and the Australian Flag just doesnt seem appropriate.

  The US flag… well that's another matter entirely :).
