    Wire thickness, to ensure it has the necessary conductivity for the purpose. Lower AWG means thicker cable and less signal loss. Important to keep track of for medium/high power speakers on long cables.

  If theres an app more niche focussed than this I haven't seen it

  If I'm at home I tend to use a digital caliper (can get them for <$20) for this sort of thing

  I have trouble recalling AWG because it is an American unit and I use SI.
