from my experience, Plantronics has very short battery life

  • Does this work for PC?

It works on anything that you can fit the RCA pass through into, which means you may need some extra cables but you should be able to get it to work. This should be considered though as it will cost a few extra bucks.

      • Would you or anyone else happen to know exactly how it would connect up to a tv? The unit looks like this..

        http://www.plantronics.com/au/support/kb/detail.jsp?vfurl=/a… (http://plantronics-pkb.force.com//servlet/fileField?retURL=%…)

i.e. would I need to also connect the USB cable somewhere in order to power it up?

I had bought the akai tv from ozb, and wandered if I could just hook this up.. (i missed out on the xbox360).. Maybe this is where a RaspberyPi may help?!

I want this, as I would like to get an xbox360 or a new gaming console in the near future..

Tried googling for a while, but havent extensively research it, didnt find anything "how to connect this to a tv", but did interestingly find an "apparent" association of plantronics with Dell, I havent looked up any company information.. (http://webapps.easy2.com/cm2/flash/generic_index.asp?page_id…)

        Thanks..

        • I got and tested my unit yesterday. The way it ismeant to wirk is there is a transmitter that plugs into a usb port for power and has a cable that has a stereo rca pass through, which is to say 2 RCAs, one for left and one for right, where there is a male and female organs each. This allows it to sit in between the xbox stereo output and the TV's input, so that the signal is going to both the TV and the transmitter.

The way I set in up was different, as I plan to use it for TV mainly not xbox, and also because my xbox is connected via hdmi. My TV has a "monitor out", so by connecting it to that I can listen to TV, xbox, bluray, or anything that the TV is showing. Also means that the hdmi cable connection, which cuts the sound from RCAs on the xbox, meaning you normally need an extra cable which will split the audio signal from the hdmi cable to the RCAs, however the first method gets around this. Hope this is clear.

Btw the unit is pretty good, range is fine over 4m, should be enough for most people. Sound is good, during TV watching wasn't much bass until music came on, but they sound very good either way, esp for wireless ones. Quote comfortable, and AAA batteries are easy to get I LSD rechargeable.

  • I recently purchased these on clearance from Harris Technology. I was itching to post the deal here, as I thought it was excellent value at $35+$5 shipping. I then got a call in the morning after receiving the receipt and and confirmation via email advising that they weren't able to process the payment as 'my credit card was from overseas'. It's not, I explained, they said yes it's from NZ, I told them it's not and gave them the option of using another card.

I then was called later to be told that they didn't have any stock left, despite the fact that it was still on the site and I was able to complete the transaction, and that they needed to find stock from the the supplier. After that rather than call me back they emailed me that 'the supplier isn't able to provide more stock'.

As you can imagine I was pissed. I called them, waited on hold for 30 minutes and was told they can't do anything about it. I asked for a supervisor, I was told they would get one, they called me back to say there wasn't one available and I had to wait until Friday as it was Xmas Eve. I waited until 4pm Friday and I called them, then was told by the supervisor he forgot to call me. He also told me that the supplier was closed until the 2nd of Jan (it was after xmas) despite the fact that the previous rep said he'd called them and they had no more stock. All this and the product was still listed available on their site, and I have to say I was tempted to post the deal and so that they would get inundated with requests and have a publicity issue, but I didn't want to inconvenience the good OzB public (it would of course break the rules of having at least 10 available).

The supervisor then told me their supplier was Anyware, and I happen to have an account with them. I checked stock (price is well above all prices listed here wholesale) and I made him promise that he would get me them at the original price despite what he may pay for them.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, after speaking to them a couple more times, listing all the ways I was lied to and the way they had repeatedly failed to deliver on their promises, raising my voice, I have 2 headsets for the initial price of $70 including shipping on their way. Maybe someone will find someone else clearing them out for a similar price, as not sure they will work perfectly with Xbox One?
