Phone Calls with Grandma are Actually Enjoyable Now! (Poly Calisto Speakerphone)

I paid $89 18months ago, now $49 for this one.

I recently gifted my elderly relatives a Poly Calisto Speakerphone each, and it's made a world of difference. Phone calls used to be a bit of a struggle – lots of background noise, difficulty hearing each other, and let's be honest, sometimes a bit awkward.

Now, with the speakerphone, our conversations are much more relaxed and enjoyable. The sound quality is excellent, and it's so much easier to hear everyone clearly.

Pro Tip: If you're considering this for elderly relatives, it might take a bit of time for them to get used to using it. But once they do, they'll wonder how they ever lived without it.

Overall: 5/5 stars. Can be used for work, Teams, Zoom etc

  • Got this for like$20 a while ago. Use it for family calls, connected to a phone. Works great, good build. I have the usbA version.

Voice is clear, good microphone, can work wirelessly as well. Good battery life

    • hmm so maybe good for WFH team zoom calls? but 49 still a bit too high i take if if for $20 - from where?

      • Got it from Amazon during a prime sale. Some people said it wasn't that good for ms teams, assuming zoom will be the same.

            • @pichxlonco: ok thanks pass no wonder they are on sale for 20
yeah i was thinking to get something like this for office meeting from home so i dont have to wear any headphone or buds or anything but my (lenovo) work laptop speaker and mic are not that good

              • @CyberMurning: Look into the Jabra speak series - brilliant speaker phone pucks for Teams / Zoom calls

                • @cycloneaussie: yes i have jabra 65t buds from 2019 the multiconnect is much better than 2023 samsung buds
Jabra speak ? okay…., brand new is expensive i'll try look for 2nd hand

      • I got mine with same 20 bucks deal. Use it purely for WFH. I have never been on the other side but never had issue.

The only concern being I have little ones and the mic array in this style of product is meant to pick up sounds near AND far (a la in a conference room in an office environment, someone sitting on the far end of the table). I think I would be better off with one of those mic/speaker that has a conical pick up area.

        • Ah then no… what i want is for the mic to just pick up my voice, no others (people, dog, etc kill all the background noises)

          • @CyberMurning: Maybe try downloading Krisp if you have background noise. I tried it for a couple of days and it worked well, but not too well when you have 2 people talking through your microphone (i.e. sitting together)

            • @pichxlonco: Work laptop is locked down by IT cant install even logitech mouse software to customise buttons
