Cadence X1 Sub & Amp Combo | 300w RMS Sub & 300w RMS Amp | $180 @ JB Hi-Fi

110

This is my first post so be gentle. I have known about this deal for a week or so but only just bought it recently and had it installed in my car Monday afternoon.

I want to make one thing clear first, this is $180 for a 300w RMS Sub and 300w AMP - this is not an audiofile's best choice but if you end up buying one you will not be dissapointed in forking out $180. This deal is about bang for buck. It usually retails for around $300+ and in my opinion could be sold for a lot more and still be considered a good price.

This thing is an absolute BEAST for $180! As of right now I spent about 30 minutes in my car at work playing around with the head unit to get the sub to my liking and I feel like I have come out of dance music festival, my body is still tingling. It is SO loud, it shakes all my mirrors and numberplate on my Commodore while sounding very very good. If you are after an entry level sub and amp package, this is it! I have done my homework before actually buying it and everyones reviews are like mine, you can check out more reviews on the link itself for more peace of mind.

  • Curious what inputs you used for this? Dedicated sub-outs from the head unit, or standard speaker level inputs.

With the quirks of my particular vehicle, replacing the head unit is an expensive endeavour.

you can install a sub and amp in any car you dont need to change the head unit anymore, all you need is a line level converter, any car audio store can do this
as far as cadence goes we get a lot of failures with this brand where i work

      • You never NEEDED to, attenuators (proper name for what you describe) and even line matching transformers have been around for donkeys years and most amps have had speaker level inputs for as long as subs in cars have been a thing.
It has, however always been a vastly better choice for sound quality with the quality of amp in most head units, and they have become a little better over the last 30 years

would never catch me with such an ugly sub in my car

  • Isn't this a better deal at similar price? Why did you go with Cadence?

To save space I am considering this, any thoughts? Perhaps less harmful to ears too ;)

Kicker combo Amp is under powered for the sub. Just shells out 100W RMS.

      • Amps are generally rated RMS and Speakers at peak
Just grabbed the set next to me that are rated 350W peak and they are 60W RMS so that 100W RMS should be ample
Best to stick to advice on stuff you know :)

    • highly recommend kicker, great product and jb prices are so cheap on car audio

    • Well worth considering this little beast which is AMPLE if you are only using a head unit

      http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=CS2286&form=CAT2…

They list 55W RMS so as to bring down THD to 0.06%, manual lists 100W RMS @0.1% and the kicker is almost certainly at 1% but they dont list it (which is cheating, it is easy to list a huge RMS without saying how much you distort)

100WRMS is much more than the total 60-80W RMS of typical head units , so it is a good match (in my experience (which includes a lot of staging) you want roughly as many watts sub as system)

If your mirrors are vibrating, it means you have not tuned your stezza properly, if you have ever experienced any alpine systems, they turn this to dust, especially the type x systems. There's alot more to a stereo system than just dumping in a sub and saying "hey yo this sounds so great". Buy low end, expect low end sound, and that's all this sub is.

    • Agree, but for the price, as the OP states, it is good value for your bucks. He even states that "this is not an audiofile's best choice", but for the $180 you pay, it is well worth it. You can not compare this to an Alpine type X system, as the price is more than triple ( just for one amp or sub only ). Not everyone has a budget to go for top end techno gear. Some people like me are happy to spread their "gadget budget" and often settle for "Value For Money", instead of getting a cutting edge ( read: often brag factor ), top of the line toy.

    I only go with JL.

Pay the extra $$$$ and get quality sound that lasts

    • JL? Please elaborate which brand this is. Cheers

      • JL Audio is the name of the company, good gear but a bit pricey

        • +1

Yes JL!! I picked up an awesome 10 inch sub off eBay used for $40 in a box. You can buy some decent sub's used if you know what to look for.

        • Pricey for a reason, its up there with the best car audio gear.

subs & amps in particular, once you buy it, you don't have to worry about changing it for 10 years
