70

Just bought the Yamaha YHT299 for $367 with free pickup in harvey norman store at Hoppers Crossing VIC.
It's the cheapest I could find online for this home theatre.

I also bought Samsung bdf6500 3D Bluray player with Wi-fi, dual core and smart hub for $115. Link below:

    • I considered that as well before buying, but after reading all the reviews and comparisons i kind of drifted towards yamaha.

  • Is this worth the extra $$$ over the YHT-196 deal over at DSE?

Note, will be replacing the fronts with some spare DSE bookshelf speakers.

    • Absolutely!!

YHT 299 is even better than Pioneer that I posted above!

    • Yes, the 299 is a much better deal with the active subwoofer and better receiver (HD format decoding). IMHO the active sub is the deal maker over the Pioneer JB deal.

      • Excellent.

Will be purchasing for the old man, so 'audiophile' SQ is not a major issue, just as long as he can upgrade the speakers over time and it's much better than the standard TV sound.

  • after owning quite a few different brand HT , i have so much respect for Yamaha….

    • which brands you had previously? :-)

      • 2 Sony, PHILIPS and Samsung…. all 3 were btw $500-$1000…I now own $300 Yamaha and it really sounds much better

        • wanted to know how it compare to Pioneer..though cheers! :-)

        • I have a Pioneer VSX-521 pack (HTP521 pack) and I just went out and got the Yamaha pack with my father. On paper, I think the Yamaha compares only slightly better than my system (mind you its a few years old now). I haven;t set up the Yamaha system yet to compare.

Meanwhile, I think the closest Pioneer pack available is the HTP323 which you can get from Videopro for $342.10 with free shipping.

  • just wondering, there is 4 hdmi, so its mean that i can plug ps3, xbox, htpc to the amp and hdmi out to the tv, is that correct? so only 1 hdmi use on tv? thanks

    • It has 4 hdmi in's and 1 hdmi out so essentially you can connect all of above and one more. The hdmi out goes to TV.

      • cool thanks

  • Free pick-up, awesome.

  • will the $300 be worth it?

almost bought the $199 htp072, but speakers i think arent of good quality compared to todoroki….

    • Todoroki=thunder in jap, exactly that, if you wanna knock your socks off and make sure your neighbours feel the tremors then go for it

  • Im very happy with mine, got it for $362 from Good Guys at Rockdale in Sydney. Bass is very good. Easy to setup.
